"Oh You Hung Me Out To Dry, I Only Meant To Love You"

I've posted a few JAUZ tracks throughout the years, but none have been as dance worthy as his new one with ROUXN. Meant to Love has a gentle lead in, but gets after it with a balls to the wall, wobbly bass heavy chord progression. ROUXN's vocals are fun and melodic, providing a perfect compliment to the playful energy of the track.

Before diving deep on the track below, you need to know there's a half minute of stalled tempo around the two and a half minute mark that may cause you to move on to the next song. If you have the attention span to listen to a whole five minute song, you'll be rewarded at the end for making it through the peaks and valleys of the track. JAUZ takes it up a few notches around the four minute mark, turning up the bass and laying into the chords even more. It's a hype track that will be getting a lot of love this week on GWDJ Favorites... #MeantToLove

"Messing With My Head in the Red Lights Baby"

Ahhh nothing like the refreshing dance vibes of a new Kill Paris single. Red Lights is what happens when a talented DJ finds the right vocalist to deliver the perfect hook. Dotter's raspy vocals contrast really well with the upbeat, disco rhythms Kill Paris delivers on the track. I'd characterize it more as "fun dance" than "club dance", meaning the tempo range makes it more listenable at a party or in the car than a night club. What stands out to me the most is the smooth, synth driven chord progression post drop. For added intrigue, Kill Paris threw some excitable sprinkles on the beat toward the end. If you're as smitten as I am with the nugget below, head on over to Spotify or iTunes to cop it...#RedLights

"It All Started with a Broken Heart"

I'll admit, the first time I was introduced to Rozes via The Chainsmokers, I wasn't sold. The song Rozes was solid, but far from my favorite release from Alex and Drew. Then Rozes dropped Matches with Cash Cash and I started to come around a bit to her quietly melodic style. That "you were made of matches and it burned me to the ground" hook had me singing along every time I listened.

This week my opinion of Rozes came full circle with her effort on Galantis's Girls on Boys. Her piano led vocal lead-in had me convinced Galantis had gone full folk for a minute. Then came the bouncy bass, tropical vibes, and a clap-heavy beat with plenty of bounce. If you read between the lines, there's plenty of sexual tension bubbling beneath the surface on the lyrics. It's a fun track that will take you through the entire gamut of tempos. Overall a stellar collabo that will be a welcome addition to Galantis's upcoming Dance album due out on Sept 15th...#GirlsOnBoys

"Kiss Me With Your Eyes Open"

Saying that Whethan is on a roll doesn't do justice to the epic streak of recent singles he's put out. Savage, Love Gang, and Good Nights come to mind when thinking of flame-worthy singles. The best part about it? All three of them are distinctly different. The first one's a banger, the second is an edgy pop single, and the third is a quiet Indie track.

So what about the new one you ask? I'd characterize Sleepy Eyes as chill electronica. Elohim's vocals set the tone, but the bubbly drop is what will cause you to save it to your newest playlist. It's rare that a new artist can be so all over the place, but in good way. In baseball you'd call that effectively wild. In the music sense, it's more of an inability to predict what's next, which makes for plenty of anticipation before hitting play. What will Whethan do next? Guess we'll see, but it churning out a fifth stellar single in a row will be a tall task...#SleepyEyes

"I Know That We Could Leave Our Love in Ruins"

I can think of no better way to easy into a work week after a stressful weekend than a new Gryffin single. Love in Ruins features soothing vocals from Sinead Harnett and is more chill dance than upbeat party starter. There's a twisted angst mixed into the vocals that gives some added intrigue to the otherwise easygoing track. It may not be my favorite of Gryffin's discography, but it's a solid addition that the shows off a softer side. If you're digging the track give it some love on hypem or Soundcloud. Or you can be an adult and check it on iTunes or Spotify, either path works, just depends on how official you're feeling...#LoveInRuins

Japan Gets Some Extra Love From The Knocks

I can't claim to understand why some artists choose to release bonus specific bonus tracks by country. Maybe having an extra track could boost regional sales or give an heir of exclusivity to a track, but as a whole, I just don't get it. Take for instance The Knocks irresistible dance track Endisco. In the literal sense, it's as close to modern disco as you're going to find. The heavy, vibrant funk influence will no doubt have you dusting off old Daft Punk albums. There's a slight ebb and flow to the beat with soft, high pitched vocals mixed throughout. In my eyes, it's all filler noise that gives ample contrast to the steady mainline dance-worthiness. If you're outside of Japan, keep railing that Soundcloud link in hopes The Knocks provide you with a future outlet to cop the track...#Endisco

I'm 99.9% Sure Kaytranada Has Arrived

Let me first preface this post by saying I'm very late to jump on the Kaytranada bandwagon. He's been developing a cult following for a while now, so I'll cop to it being convenient that I'm posting about him for the first time on the day he releases his first full length LP. Hailing from chilly Montreal, Canada, he's made a name for himself with a unique blend of dance, electronic, and Hip Hop sounds. He's one of the rare artists that it feels disingenuous to put a genre label on, but that's also explains much of his allure as an artist.

Even though I'm posting the funky video for his latest single, Lite Spots, I'd encourage you to check out his entire 99.9% album on Spotify. Sure, you're not going to get choreographed dancing robot visuals with every track, but the underlying electro-funk will be more than evident as you listen to the album in its entirety. My guess is this will be the first of many Kaytranada tracks to be featured here, but time will surely tell...#LiteSpots

"Bang That 'Til You Pass Out"

If you've ever wondered what 90s pop music would sound like mashed with new school House music, Disclosure has your answer. I say 1990s because it reminds me of so many group exercise hits that were released in that decade. Below is an detailed example of what I mean by 1990s group exercise music...
Gotta love the 90s! Anyways, Bang That is a fun combination of addictive vocal samples and a rolling beat that fluctuates tempo masterfully. If you loved Disclosure's debut album Settle, you have to be excited about their new single because it's an indication that their sophomore album is well on the way. There aren't too many groups that do pop Dance music as well as they do, so if you were looking for permission to get pumped, you now have it...#BangThat

"I Just Wanna Drop My Jiggelin' Down to the Floor"

Until now, Eva Simons has been a great supporting piece on a few well known singles. Her tracks with Afrojack, Stafford Brothers and Nicky Romero come to mind as great examples of her talent as a vocalist. This week she let loose a brand spanking new single featuring Konshens. Policeman will remind you of Major Lazer as it combines the best of EDM and reggae into one big energy bomb. For those of you who had a case of the Mondays, feel free and add some spice to your playlist for the week with this shot of reggaeton...#Policeman

"Let Me Be Your Stranger"

I'm having a hard time coming to terms with liking Chris Malinchak's new single with Mikky Ekko, Stranger. It's undeniably funky, but almost to the point of being over done. Sound wise the MJ comparisons will come, but it's a song that stands out because it has such a throwback sound. While you'd expect flashy disco lights and big hair on the video, you're not going to get it. For the record, the video does a great job of contextualizing the song and brings it to life in a unique way...

Man, listening to this track can be addicting. My guess is you're either really going to like it or you're going to give an emphatic "WTF is this?" Either way, it will elicit a strong reaction and that's what I'm here for ladies and gentleman, to make you feel something...#Stranger

A Midweek Dose of Audio Sunshine

For those in need of a positive energy boost to get you through the mid-week doldrums, I got you. With the help of UK producer Slinger, all of you worries will melt away after a few listens of his remix of Pharrell's Brand New. Sure, it helps that Justin Timberlake's vocals play well on a funky dance track, but I have no problem admitting that this little slice of modern disco eclipses the original version. Between the vibrant bassline and cheery cover art, you might as well start getting in a good mood before pressing play below because it's a forgone conclusion. In case you missed it, Pharrell's album GIRL is pretty dope and deserving of your attention too...#BrandNew

Gorgon City is a Funky Place

While we're at it, might as well keep the swanky British lounge music rollin' this week. Next up is Gorgon City's new one, No More, featuring the vocals of Liv. I'd almost go as far to say this is new age disco with it's heavy undertones and addicting dance vibe. Better yet, the lyrics are as sassy and defiant as you'd expect from a track named No More. It's a bummer I don't have plans to travel to England any time soon because I'd love to catch one of their shows...#WelcomeToGorgonCity

"Make Yourself Bigger Like Mushroom, Mario Kart"

There was a low quality video of a new track between Major Lazer and Pharrell released last month via Holy Ship called Aerosol Can. This week the studio version of the track found it's way on the internet and it's as bangin' as advertised. When I say bangin', I mean it has a tribal, rhythmic vibe to it with plenty of bass. I'm not going to even try to classify this into a genre. It doesn't need to be because it's that awesome. The tempo invites you to dance and the speaker thump will keep you dancing.

iTunes say Major Lazer's new Apocalypse Now EP will be released in a little less than three weeks on February 21st. Hopefully the leak will encourage the early release of the track as a single. Until then, keep on pressing play below until you're done feeling like dancin...#AerosolCan

Turning a Ballad Into 5-Star Lounge Music

Despite the fact that music on this blog has been steadily drifting toward EDM, I will never hesitate to give love to music that find a way to get people movin'. In other words, it doesn't have to be electronic to make people want to dance. Case in point, Star Slinger's latest remix of Izzy Bizu's White Tiger. In case you missed the original, it's definitely worth a listen because she has a show-stopping voice...

The remix maintains the same vocal-driven sound, but Star Slinger added his own personal swanky touch of upbeat love to the beat. It transforms the track from an easy-listening ballad to a nod-your-head-back-and-forth Quagmire style experience. Tip of the cap Star Slinger, you truly are the king of five star lounge music...#StarSlinger

Feel Good Dance Track for Labor Day

I'll admit, I've been sitting on this one for about a month now, but it's the type of smooth, feel good track that embodies what a day off should feel like. It's hard to ignore the saxophone's ability to inspire a crowd and De Hofnar showed exactly why that's the case on his new-ish track Vogelvlucht.

If you don't speak Dutch, according to the translated Wikipedia Vogelvlucht is "the collective term for the various ways in which birds move in flight." To put it succinctly, I bet you didn't think you'd a smooth jazz dance track having to do Ornithology on the blog today, did you? Just felt like keeping you on your toes today since Google tells me less people come to read on holidays. For those of you that do, I sincerely appreciate it and I hope you'll open your mind up to something inspirational and different today...#HappyLaborDay

"Let It Go, Let Go, of Your Fire"

What the hell, might as well keep the feel good vibe going this week with RAC (Remix Artists Collective)'s new uplifting single Let Go. The track, featuring vocals from Kele Okereke (Bloc Party) and MNDR, is a mixture of get up out yo seat funk and dance like nobody's looking pop. I really appreciate the subtle intricacies of the percussion that take this track from being run of the mill to a true standout.

The great part about Let Go is that it's original material from RAC, rather than the usual remix of a song you've already heard of. It's usually a big step for any artist, so when someone does it really well, it makes this nostalgic DJ a happy camper. Keep an ear out for RAC's upcoming Don't Talk To EP that is scheduled to hit iTunes on October 1st...#LetGo

Star Slingin' on a Thursday Night

Am I the only one who wants really badly that Star Slinger would tour around the US? There's an outside shot I could catch him in Chi-town, but he seems keen on primarily staying in the UK on his side of the pond. Can't blame him, if I made great music I'd make people come check me out in my home territory too.

Anyways, the English version of Darren Williams let loose a funky rendition of Miguel's Adorn this week. The remix has a little bit of everything from Hip Hop to electronic to a bit of reggae/calypso vibe toward the end. It's a funky take on a love makin' track that stays true to his upbeat, piano-filled style. Feel free to cool out to this one and don't miss Miguel opening for Drake this fall...#WouldYouLikeATour

"Don’t Stop, No One’s Ever Enough"

Going on a year now I've continually heard @HAIMtheband's name bandied about throughout the blogosphere. I'm not going to pretend I know anything about their music yet, but what I do know is that when they start collaborating with some of my favorite artists, I'm going to start paying closer attention. That came a little over a week ago when @ducidni announced that he has a track on his upcoming album with Haim and @Hit_Boy...(Antennae goes up...).

Which brings us to the track at hand, feel free to grab a bite of the original version of Falling before diving into the dope remix...
Simple put, these three sisters and a drummer have a refreshingly unique style. It's a completely coin flip whether the remix below that @DukeDumont put together is as good as the original. What I do know is he did a great job of extracting the catchiest part and taking it up a notch in danceworthiness, but both versions are great in their own right. Key takeway, Haim is officially on my radar and they should be on yours too...#Haim

"You Loved Me and I Froze in Time"

As if the first release of @davidguetta's latest album Nothing but the Beat wasn't enough, he's back with a re-release that will feature a few new singles. The first of which is the track below featuring @siamusic, which will be the 7th (yep you read that right) single off the album.

So far, only the extended mix and a few remixes have been released via the CDS on Beatport. Speaking of which, Beatport already has the track, but iTunes will not be privy to it until August 24th, which is interesting as it is continuing the trend of electronic artists favoring the Euro-centric Beatport over iTunes. If I were you, I'd fast forward about a minute to when the song actually starts and Sia kicks her high octane vocals into gear. From there, it's every bit of a club rocking dance single as any of DGuetta's past efforts. The track below only solidifies the notion that he can do no wrong and lend credence to the belief that he still has the American dance-pop in his back pocket. #AmericanEDMOnLock

The Cataracs Love Fat Taco Shops

Real quietly @thecataracs just released a dope new EP last week. Appropriately titled after their favorite Bay Area Mexican restaurant, Gordo Taquiera is an over-sized burrito full of high powered electro-pop. As is their signature, they mix in high pitched samples with funny verses that aren't meant to be taken seriously. Simply put, they make fun party music to dumb out and shake your ass to.

As I'm listening to full EP, I'm starting to question whether I picked the right track to post. In other words, don't all the sudden assume this is the cut to check out because I decided to post it. You'd be just as well off pressing play from track 1 and letting Campa and Cyrano take care of the rest.

It's not everyday that a group known for making great music for others puts together an album to promote their own brand. Lots of hidden treasures that probably won't see the light of day as singles, so don't be bashful in supporting them...#GordoTaquiera
