"I Just Wanna Drop My Jiggelin' Down to the Floor"

Until now, Eva Simons has been a great supporting piece on a few well known singles. Her tracks with Afrojack, Stafford Brothers and Nicky Romero come to mind as great examples of her talent as a vocalist. This week she let loose a brand spanking new single featuring Konshens. Policeman will remind you of Major Lazer as it combines the best of EDM and reggae into one big energy bomb. For those of you who had a case of the Mondays, feel free and add some spice to your playlist for the week with this shot of reggaeton...#Policeman

Videos of the Week September 5th

Good mix of humor, entertainment and just plain awesome vocals in this week's top five. The list includes a trailer from a festival I still have on my bucket list (EDC), an inspirational video for those who are finding themselves in the fight with cancer (Remission), some fantasy football humor courtesy of Jimmy Fallon, visuals from one of the better Hip Hop EDM collabos in recent memory (That Girl) and last, but certainly not least, an incredible vocal performance by none other than Sam Smith. I know Fast Car will never be able to be done better than Tracy Chapman, but it's hard to touch Sam's version. I've got a date to see Sammy S live in less than a month and you better believe I'm counting down the days...#FastCar

"Do It One More Time For This Girl"

No matter how successful their music ends up being, I'm always going to be tuned into the Stafford Brothers' music. They were the first EDM group signed to a Hip Hop label and they did so during a time when my tastes in music were waffling between the two genres. Sadly, there isn't much to be excited about in Hip Hop anymore, but that's also why collaborations like the one below are particularly interesting to me.

Is This Girl as catchy and addictive as Hello? Nope. Does T.I. sound strange on an EDM track? Yep. Is the track worth listening to? Yep, despite it sounding a bit forced, Eva Simons brought her A game game, which helped a lot. No word yet on whether this is a random single or a step toward a debut album, but I have high hopes for the Aussies to make a splash if/when that ever does happen...#ThisGirl

"You and Me, Got the Chemistry"

All I really need to see on this one was Eva Simons...new single...produced by RedOne. There's no doubt, Eva is one of the rising stars of pop EDM and her new promo single should start creating some serious buzz for her yet to be titled debut album. Even better, just last week it was announced she'd be opening for Beyonce on her Netherlands leg of The Mrs Carter Show World Tour. Hmm...wonder if that will help her buzz?

No word yet on when Eva's debut is scheduled to drop, but if you're in the mood for an upbeat, radio friendly track to add to your most recent cardio playlist, she's got you covered...#Chemistry

Afrojack Feels the Love

Might as well call this @djafrojack and @evasimons week with the love they've been getting on the blog of late. If you're like me, you're probably appreciating the timing of this track because the original was well past it's prime and it needed a second life. Afrojack provided that and then some with a little dubstep and a lot of club friendly tempo transitions.

As a quick aside, I am learning more an more to appreciate good cover art. You want to get me excited about featuring a song, then throw together a crisp png that will make the decision for me to post the song even easier. Case in point the cover above. It's pretty simple, but well thought out and screams high-res. I know I'm preaching to the A&R choir, but I design is a big part of the experience of visiting a web page, so if you want readers to associate a track with a positive visual experience, it matters...#CoverArtIsUnderrated

The Wall is On the Rise

You'd be hard pressed to find an EDM artist that @evasimons hasn't collaborated with recently. This time she hooked up with up and coming Dutch house producer @djapster on a new heat rock titled I Need More. Chalked full of uptempo club rocking synths and sultry lyrics, it's about as contemporary club as you get.

As a side note, it's becoming increasingly clear that similar to Hip Hop with Young Money and G.O.O.D. Music, there are a few big time record labels in electronic music that seem to reel in a lot of the well known talent. The first that comes mind is Ultra Records, which used to have @tiesto and currently has @BennyBenassi, @basshunt, @CalvinHarris, @kaskade, @deadmau5, @steveaoki and @wolfganggartner to name a few.

The next label that is starting to build a stable of serious electronic talent is @djafrojack's outfit, Wall Recordings. Holding down the Netherlands like a boulder size paper weight, @wallrecordings now houses (pun?) the likes of Afrojack, Apster and @djr3hab to name a few artists I've recently posted tracks by. Call it a mini-stable or a developing movement to be wreckoned with, either way they're putting out some great music and starting to make some noise in the electronic industry...#YouveBeenWarned

Eva Simons & Nicky Romero Don't
Like You

Had to mix in an obligatory EDM track in a week that has been dominated by new Hip Hop singles. The one below is a remix done by @nickyromero of @evasimons's track I Don't Like You. If you haven't heard the original version of I Don't Like You, which was produced by @Zedd, feel free to check it out below...
The original is more pop/EDM than the dance remix Nicky weaved together, so it's almost like saying which flavor of vanilla do you like better, French Vanilla or regular vanilla? Tonight I'm digging the more traditional ebb and flow of house music, so I'll pick the one below. Assist goes to Beatport's top 10, which again keeps outpacing iTunes when it comes to EDM...#CatchUpApple
