"Come on Spend That Dirty Sexy Money on Me"

The track below is another reminder of how woven into pop culture EDM has become. If you listen to the track below, you'd have to wait a full 45 seconds to have a clue that David Guetta or Afrojack produced the track. The soft keys to open the track and vocal lead in by Charli XCX would lead you to believe Dirty Sexy Money is a ballad. Unsurprisingly it's anything but that with a high energy drop and steadily increasing tempo throughout the track. Unfortunately there's a half minute of filler courtesy of French Montana around the two minute mark, but his presence doesn't entirely sink the potential of the track. It's still a fun track that has some Top 40 potential, so hopefully it leaves a more lasting taste in your mouth than Big League Chew...#DirtySexyMoney

"Girl I Love That Dress But You Won't Need It Anymore"

As if Bruno Mars' Versace on the Floor couldn't get any sexier, David Guetta decided to crank up the baby makin' vibe a few notches. In adding a slight tempo bump and some Daft Punk-esque vocal ad libs, Guetta did a stellar job of carrying the torch of the original without over doing the tempo. The funk still permeates throughout the track, but in a slightly more electronic manifestation. If you're looking for a complete overhaul of the original, this isn't going to be your favorite. But if you're wanting a new flavor added to an already good taste, then you might get swept up in the amplified sexiness of the remix...#VersaceOnTheFloor

"I Want You to Share That Air With Me"

Chalk this one up under the "I don't need to convince you to press play" variety. When David Guetta and Justin Bieber announce they're releasing a new single together people get really excited for days. Yesterday that day finally came to fruition with the release of 2U.

Does it have Bieber's pillowy soft vocals? Yep. Does Guetta bring his A game with a quiet beat and forceful, but catchy drop? You bet he did. It's never going to be the festival banger you may expect, but it has the power to to quickly climb the Top 40 charts over the next week. It doesn't hurt one bit that they employed a lyric video featuring Victoria Secret Angels lip syncing the track too. If you feel a little guilty for liking this for a minute, don't feel bad, I did too. Just give it a couple quick listens and move on before it hits the pop culture blender...#2U

Videos of the Week May 12th

When all is said and done, this past week will be known for having a bit more culture than a usual VOTW top five. Starting with the odd, but awesome pairing of Logic with Neil deGrasse Tyson, there was some nice discussion depth surrounding the lack of concept albums in Hip Hop. It was cool watching both of them share mutual respect and genuinely want to support each other in a positive way.

In the world of music, there were two noteworthy, power collaborations that rose to the top. Linkin Park's new video for Good Goodbye featured some electric (literally) dunks and then there was a whole lot of Nicki Minaj gyrating around in not a lot of clothes in the Light My Body Up video. Yes, it's getting cliche to see it, but she's a beautiful woman, I'll leave it at that. If silly is what you want you'll appreciate the new DJ Hanzel chapter. For this most recent episode he gave some DJ lessons and hilarity ensued. Rounding out this week's top five was Tinashe who hooked up with Complex to prove that sneakers are not just for guys. In the words of John Oliver...#Feminism

"Maybe We'll Meet Again in Another Life"

Last week was one star studded collaboration after another. This week is starting out on the same note with a massive collection of talent in the form of Another Life. It'll probably get buried in the lede, but Ester Dean's contribution to the track is what I geeked out on the most. She's been a part of some big songs, but for me her demo tracks going back as far as a decade were what really impressed me. It's more of a made for radio instrumental than a party starter, but Ester's vocals are what you'll end up remembering. Honorable mention goes to the burst of emotion on the drop by two of the best in EDM. If you're a Sci-Fi fan, you'll appreciate the animated, 3D depiction of the track below. Even better, they put the Radio Mix of the track on Spotify. Plenty of ways enjoy this one, so pick your favorite outlet...#AnotherLife

"Made That Thing a Starfish, Right Up on My Swordfish"

Countless times in the past I've gushed over Hip Hop and EDM collaborations. When done right, they go together like PB&J because everyone loves a hot 16 over a high intensity beat filled with bass. That being said, the PB&J sandwich below could have used a little bit better bread because it's waaay more Hip Hop than EDM in an overtly poppy way.

Let's unpack that a bit. David Guetta has the ability to produce some of the best Pop EDM and I don't need to sell you on the skills of Nicki Minaj and Lil Tunechi. But, Light My Body Up didn't live up to my lofty expectations because it was sort of awkwardly Trap-y, which isn't exactly the lane DG usually rides in. Not saying he can't do it or that the track sucked, but it wasn't what I hoped when I pressed play. To each their own, though, and you may like it more than I do, so iTunes and Spotify if you're a fan...#LightMyBodyUp

Videos of the Week May 22nd

It was an extremely busy week for new music releases and an even busier week for music videos. Leading the way was Taylor Swift's new collabo with Kendrick Lamar that momentarily had the internet on pause. The video is up to 51 million views in less than a week, which speaks to how ridiculously big Taylor and K Dot are.

If you're wondering what it's like to be an aspiring electronic music DJ and you can put up with Zac Efron, check out the We Are Your Friends trailer. If you have been wondering what it would be like to see Snoop sailing through the clouds with Stevie, we've got some of that too this week. If crazy collaborations are what you're interested in, give D Guetta's new one a look. And if you are in the mood for a dramatic video that tells a gritty story, Machine Gun Kelly's new video for A Little More. In my eyes, it's in the lead for best Hip Hop track of 2015 at the quarter gate...#ALittleMore

Videos of the Week March 20th

With SXSW being the talk of the town this week and hearing stories about how Snoop and Willie Nelson ate KFC in Amsterdam together, it's only fitting the lead off video of the week has to do with Jimmy Kimmel trolling attendees of the legendary festival. It's a little unnerving how quickly people are to pretend to know what they're talking about when it comes to music. My favorite was DJ Gluten and how his music is hard to tolerate...love it!

For the weekly Fallon spot, Ben Stiller made a quick cameo to do some really entertaining impromptu role playing. On them music front, it's getting a little ridiculous how great lyric videos are becoming. Case in point both Martin Garrix and David Guetta's latest videos for their new singles. One took the more cartoony route, the other took a more literal, real life entertainment angle. It makes you wonder if real videos are even worth it these days? Finally, rounding out the top 5 is a behind the scenes look at Ed Sheeran's tour. Yes, you read that right, he does in fact sing to cats around the four minute mark. I'm starting to think going on a worldwide tour should be on my bucket list...#Sheeran

"I Can't Believe What I Did For Love"

Full disclosure, David Guetta's new single with vocals from Emeli Sande has been a mainstay on playlists of mine for the better part of two months. Somewhere along the way I dropped the ball on posting the track, so what better way to atone for that than posting the video. I didn't anticipate seeing an ape punching a shark to save his jet skiing woman, but sometimes you just luck out...
Oh, that's right I forgot to mention the tentacled outer space dragon monster too! Crazy animated love story aside, the track is about as memorable as an EDM track is capable of being. The standout vocals truly set the track apart, but Guetta's crisp chord progressions never disappoint. Listen continues to be one of the best EDM albums of the past year, but that's something we've come to expect from D Guetta. Still, there comes a point where releasing six successful promotional and official singles deserves some serious love...#Greatness

Ne-Yo and Guetta Know Who is Taking You Home

I'll admit, when I first learned of a new collaboration between Ne-Yo and David Guetta, this was not at all what I expected. Usually when you think of David Guetta's influence on a track, uptempo synths made for the club and top 40 radio come to mind. Not so much the case with Who's Taking You Home, which is 100% melodic ballad from front to back. Despite the attention grabbing title, the tone of the track follows the peacefulness of the gentle chord progression that leads the way. The track will be one of the many singles that will litter Ne-Yo's new Non-Fiction album that will be hitting stores on January 27th. If anyone was wondering how to pull off an interesting lyric video, press play and enjoy the kaleidoscope visuals that compliment the audio quite well...#NonFiction

Guetta's Dangerous Just Got More Dangerous

Here's another reason why David Guetta continues to have American pop music on the palm of his hand. Despite his latest album Listen being chalked full of hits it didn't stop him from doubling down and reaching wider audiences. He's been known to dip into R&B and out of all the tracks he could have picked on his new album, Dangerous is the most well suited for the duo of Trey Songz and Chris Brown chip in vocals. I really didn't think anyone could touch Sam Martin's vocals on the original, but Chris Brown came really close on the remix below. The original was great, but this is a rare case of the remix being just as good as the original...#DangerousPart2

Videos of the Week November 6th

Ran a bit heavy on actual music videos this week, which is a bit of a change of pace. Leading the way is the much anticipated Dangerous video from David Guetta, which had more trailers than most movies that come out. It's not my favorite Kendrick Lamar track, but I can dig the live band feel and overall positive message of the track. Sticking with the Hip Hop vibe, K.R.I.T.'s space age video for Cadallactica was a interesting watch. It reminded me that I need to give his upcoming album a more thorough listen.

Before you go thinking this is an all music post, feel free and get all your laughs out to the news anchor wildin' out white boy style to Where They at Doe? I bet the woman co-anchor wishes she would have participated a bit more now that it's gone viral. Last but not least are the visuals from Lorde's latest single Yellow Flicker Beat from the upcoming Hunger Games: Mocking Jay Part 1. I continue to be amazed at her presence as a now 18 year old...#HappyBirthdayLorde

"I Don't Know What You're Thinkin' Sugar"

Fresh is when one of your favorite artists takes a complete left turn to a place you had never imagined they could prior to listening. Like, for example, David Guetta's new one featuring the super-talented Sam Martin. You may recognize Sam as the guy whose vocals were featured on Lovers of the Sun, but he takes it to an entirely new awesome level on Dangerous.

From the piano lead in to the tantalizing synths throughout, it's a whole new pop, funk vibe from David Guetta. It's something Maroon 5 would be capable of, but hearing this type of funk from an unexpected source makes it that much more awesome. Leave the progressive house at the door, D Guetta is shooting for a whole new level on his new album Listen that is slated to hit stores on November 21...#Dangerous

Getting Bad With The Rooftop Boys

I love it when I hear an electronic song that I'm not really crazy about that gets transformed into a much better version. Case in point David Guetta & Showtek's Bad that I was lukewarm at best on when I first heard it. But good things come to those who wait and here come the smooth, Tropical House upgrade courtesy of The Rooftop Boys. While the original was more of an in your face club track, the remix is much more suitable for a trip to the beach. While I can't really say that all EDM permutations are worthy of perpetuating, I'm still all about the momentum that Tropical House is gaining...#TropicalHouse

Videos of the Week August 15th

With the NFL season on the horizon, this week has a bit of a football theme with The Manning Brothers' Fantasy Football Hip Hop commercial leading the way. Was it me or did Broadway Joe play to his stereotype a bit too comfortably when he was feeling up on that woman mid-way through the video? On an even less serious note, how bout that super, extravagant Madden commercial? It shares the same silliness as The Manning video, but with a little bit more crazy. I don't even play Madden anymore, but that video got me pumped.

In other news, Fences new video with Macklemore is an entertaining and artsy watch. David Guetta put together a perfectly Western video for Lovers of the Sun. And last, but certainly not least, Ariana Grande is in fact decent looking and it's not everyday you see her shoot rockets out of her ta-tas...#Madden15

"We Might As Well Be Lovers of the Sun"

First it was bluegrass and EDM, now it's country western flavored electronica? Not sure I saw this coming, but I can't say I dislike it. I will compliment Sam Martin for his soothing, folk-y vocals that match the twangy guitars in the background. Leave it to David Guetta to continue stretching the boundaries of what's been done in a genre that he largely helped popularize in the states.

Ask yourself, would you be surprised if Avicii produced the track below? The common sense answer to that question should be an emphatic NO because he did in fact produce the single. The track below and Shot Me Down will appear on his new Lovers of the Sun EP that just so happened to hit iTunes today. Can't beat four song EPs that bring the heat like D Guetta's new one...#LoversOfTheSun

"That Awful Sound, My Baby Shot Me Down"

Man, I'm at a bit of a loss with the track below. I'm a huge fan of Skylar Grey and almost as fond of David Guetta, but it's taking me a while to wrap my head around their remake of Cher's well-known track Bang Bang (Shot Me Down). For those of you like me who weren't even close to alive in 1966 when it was released, forgive me for the grainy black and white video I posted below...

As far as the remake is concerned, picking Skylar Grey to do the vocals probably wasn't a bad decision. In general, I like the ebb and flow of the dramatic vocals and the progressive house drops that follow. What I don't like is the extra minute of disorganized electronic madness at the beginning of the track. If you fast forward a minute, the track takes you on an entertaining dramatic roller coaster ride. Take that for what it's worth, but I'm still torn on whether or not they did the sample justice...#ShotMeDown

Videos of the Week April 26th

Alright now that making promo videos for festivals is becoming "the cool thing to do", it's starting to wear on me. Not only are these awesome festivals generally nowhere near me, now I get to see the highlights and promos for them...awesome! The newest one being the Hard Summer concert taking place in LA August 3rd-4th. The lineup looks to be pretty killer.

Aside from that, there are two entertaining behind the scenes videos below to go with David Guetta and T.I.'s new visual creations. Quick sidebar, I'll be in Paris the next ten days, so apologies if seems like I've all the sudden developed a new music blind spot. I'll do what I can to keep up with the daily routine, don't you worry...#NoDaysOff

Videos of the Week November 16th

This week comes in a a little Hip Hop heavy with @Slaughterhouse, @Ludacris, @RealWizKhalifa and @S_C_ coming in with new videos. Along with that is a developing EDM favorite with @CAZZETTE's latest single Beam Me Up. I said it when I first posted the track, but Slaughterhouse's track Goodbye is a really moving track if you give the stories a listen. I know you wouldn't normally think of the group as serious or intensely sensitive group, but if you listen close and take a minute to get into their stories, you'll be pleasantly surprised...#RapGeniusAssist

Videos of the Week Novemeber 9th

The biggest takeaway from this week's round of videos has to be the video game Hip Hop Dance Experience. The game is set to be released on November 13th and features a wide array of hits from the past few years. Even better, @TooShort put in his two cents on the game and even touched on his favorite dance "The Freak"...or what white folks call grinding.

The best part of the clip is when the producers somehow persuaded Short Dawg to get in between the two dime pieces and start dancing. But he doesn't do just any dance, he does one of the most well known go-to white guy dances with the dice roll dance. Part of me wants laugh at Ubisoft for incorporating such stereotypical "white guy Hip Hop-isms", but then again, if their audience is composed of a lot of Caucasians (with presumably limited dance moves), then it would be a little counter intuitive to try and sell advanced stuff like Baltimore Club to white kids...#GoodLuckWithThat
