"Oh Adrian, I Wanna Be Like You"

The formation of so-called super groups can go one of two ways. Sometimes it can be a revelation when the two styles meld together to create something greater than the sum of the parts. Other times it's an absolute train wreck that makes you question how such talent could result in a such a let down. Luckily for us, when The Knocks and Mat Zo got together to form The Mary Nixons, it was the former rather than the latter.

Adrian combines the quirky upbeat rhythms from both collaborators, creating an idealized mix of styles. The high-pitched vocal sample that gets chopped up throughout the track is a good look. It'll have you singing along as you find yourself nodding along to the beat. It's poppy, Indie dance at it's best and you'd be crazy not to consider adding it to your latest Spotify playlist...#Adrian

"Feel My Heat, Bring Your Body Right Next To Me"

I've always been a huge fan of how well The Knocks are able to blend together Hip Hop and House. It may not have the upbeat funk that their previous single with Lemaitre had, but their decision to collaborate with Sam Nelson Harris of the X Ambassadors was a good look. Heat is much more of a chill ballad, but the mix of bright, bouncy synths work really well with the stellar vocals. The cover art sets up the single really well with a grown and sexy tone the comes through the speakers when you press play. It's already been added to The Favorites, but choose your own adventure with the lease or buy...#Heat

Japan Gets Some Extra Love From The Knocks

I can't claim to understand why some artists choose to release bonus specific bonus tracks by country. Maybe having an extra track could boost regional sales or give an heir of exclusivity to a track, but as a whole, I just don't get it. Take for instance The Knocks irresistible dance track Endisco. In the literal sense, it's as close to modern disco as you're going to find. The heavy, vibrant funk influence will no doubt have you dusting off old Daft Punk albums. There's a slight ebb and flow to the beat with soft, high pitched vocals mixed throughout. In my eyes, it's all filler noise that gives ample contrast to the steady mainline dance-worthiness. If you're outside of Japan, keep railing that Soundcloud link in hopes The Knocks provide you with a future outlet to cop the track...#Endisco

"I Wish I Could Find My Taylor Swift"

Any track with the name Taylor Swift in it has to be pop, right? Well yea, actually it does. Two favorites of mine, The Knocks and Matthew Koma, proved that theory true this week when they released their new single I Wish (My Taylor Swift). You already know what to expect from Matthew Koma as a vocalist, but The Knocks showed out with their laid back house beat that would have made for a perfect summer anthem. In the Bay Area, it still feels like summer, so this one hit the spot. After one listen I was already singing along, which means this will be dangerous on radio. I'll be very surprised if this hasn't found it's way onto the majority of LA DJs playlists by the time I make my way down to Orange County in November. Feel free and cop it or join me in eagerly looking forward to The Knocks debut album 55...#MyTaylorSwift

"Cause It Feels So Classic"

As funk continues to make a push back into pop music, I'm finding myself really enjoying a lot of these carefree summer themed tracks. The cover art sums up the vibe of Classic really well with an image of a couple underneath the sunset. The Knocks came correct from the start with a funky guitar riff that blends really well with an infusion of piano during the hook. Powers deserves quite a bit of credit for her vocal contribution too, putting her own stamp on the catchy lyrics. Overall, I see this as a step in the right direction toward the NY duo's demo album Endisco...#Classic

Dave Edwards Takes The One to Another Level

About once a month, I end up kicking myself when I find a new song and end up liking it a lot more than I did on first listen. That was the case with Dave Edwards remix of The Knocks' The One. I've had the Soundcloud link open in my browser for a few days now and it hasn't gotten the nod yet on a post despite the fact that I still haven't closed the tab. Sometimes you just gotta let it simmer a bit before it tastes good.

If you haven't heard of The Knocks, you need to get acquainted with their music. Below is a good starting point as it's their original version of The One featuring Sneaky Sound System...

For the record, this is now the fourth time Dave Edwards has remixed The Knocks. At this point, it's safe to say they complement each other well stylistically. In summary, Dave took the already great original version of The One and poured gasoline on with an injection of in-your-face synths that are capable of lighting up a dance floor. Best part about it, you can cop it for free at the cost of a Facebook like...#TheOne

"Is There a Place Called Love in Modern Hearts?"

Either disco is coming back or there is an Indie electronic movement on the rise. About a year ago, I posted a track by The Knocks called Learn to Fly that sounds pretty similar to their new one with St. Lucia. In a way, The Knocks remind me stylistically of Matt & Kim, which is compliment because their free spirited music is absolutely awesome. Hopefully you're in the mood for something easy listening like I was tonight because Modern Hearts hit the spot...#EDM

"All the Stars and All the Skies Make Me Want to Learn to Fly"

In an attempt to flip the script on a mundane Monday, below is a feel good track by the NY based production duo @theknocks. I was surprised myself when I went through old posts trying to find another track of theirs I had posted, but came up empty. They've done so jammin' remixes of songs you've heard like Pumped Up Kicks and also released some decent tracks of their own like Dancing with the DJ. Even better, they've been known to rub shoulders with one of my favorite duos @realchiddy and @xaphoonjones on tracks like When You've Got Music and their remix of Dancing with the DJ.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Learn to Fly is probably going to serve as the lead single for The Knocks upcoming debut album. No idea what the title of the album will be or the timing of the release, but I'm excited to hear more of the modern day disco that @djbroc and @mrjpatt create together. I'll put it this way, if The Knocks are considered Indie, then I'm even more proud to be an independent music supporter. Be mindful of your surroundings when you uncork this gem because you'll be compelled to dance...#NoChoice
