"Gimme Just a Little of Your Love"

There's an heir of positivity surrounding Haim's music that is impossible to ignore. The trio of sisters are all talented vocalists in their own right, but make an unstoppable team when they combine forces. If you haven't given a listen to their new Something To Tell album that dropped about a month ago, you need to catch up.

One of the standout tracks on the album, Little of Your Love, was recently injected with some tempo thanks to BloodPop. To his credit, he turned a pop sing along into a pop dance anthem. The vocals from the original are there, but let's just say this new mix is a whole lot more dance worthy. It's a fun track that BloodPop found a way to make even more accessible and energetic...#LittleOfYourLove

"I Was Livin' in the Heat in the Moment"

I'm stil trying to get to the bottom of why I like the Haim sisters' music so much. There's something about their unique chemistry and roll-off-the-tongue vocal delivery that reels me in. Their sound translates to just about any genre as evidenced by their collabos with Cudi, Bastille, A$AP Ferg and now Calvin Harris. Even though Calvin's synths are generally the reason why you end up pressing play, Haim stole the show on Pray to God. The video does a good job of capturing their mystique on the video below. Plus what successful video doesn't include a wolf, bear, eagle and a lion? Yep, that's right, it has everything primal you could ever want...#PrayToGod

"You Better Sink Your Teeth Before I Disappear"

The track below is a great example of why you shouldn't always judge a track on first listen. Full disclosure, I wholeheartedly passed on this track after first listen. Maybe I didn't pay enough attention to the hook at first because it sunk it's teeth in me on round two. The harmony between Dan Smith and the Haim sisters resonated with me and made the interesting collaboration that much more enjoyable. You'll be able to find it and a whole bunch of other fun mixes on Bastille's upcoming Vs (Other People's Heartache, Pt III) mixtape/EP. Tip of the cap to Bastille for being one of the few rock bands forward thinking enough to still release mixtapes...#OtherPeoplesHeartache

Videos of the Week August 20th

When it came to videos this week, there wasn't much buzz beyond Nicki Minaj's soft core porn video for Anaconda. My goodness...it has more buns than bakery on a Sunday morning. Shoot somewhere Sir-Mix-Alot is blushing because of the asstronomical amount of booty viewable in that video. Even tossed in a Drake cameo while they were at it case you wondered how he behaves at strip clubs.

Beyond that, Haim's new Hip Hop flavored My Song 5 was a fun watch, as well as Seven Lions' sci-fi, planetary visuals for Worlds Apart. Oh I see what they did with the whole worlds and planet thing. As if Denzel's presence wasn't enough to carry a trailer, the creators of The Equalizer decided it would be an even better decision to throw in a clip of an unreleased, upcoming Eminem song with Sia. That was a good call and we're all now excited. And finally, Floss gave a short 10 min behind the scenes look at his tour, which was pretty cool to watch. Living on the road has to be tough, but when the audience gets THAT hype to your music, it has to get to a point where he's pinching himself on a daily basis...#HDYNATION

"Honey, I'm Not Your Honey Pie"

First it was Kid Cudi making great music with the sisters Haim, now it's A$AP Ferg's turn to get in the mix. My skeptical side wondered how on the hell they were going to infuse Hip Hop into their funky single My Song 5? After a few listens, A$AP Ferg deserves a tip of the cap for his verse. His lyrics tell both sides of the story, providing a bit of balance to the one sided web of lies in the original version.

Haim's Days Are Gone album continues to be under appreciated in a lot of ways. Hopefully this new flavor of a previous single open a few more eyeballs from a different demographic. I'm still mad I missed the sisters at Outside Lands, but you better believe I'm going to find a way to see them in the next calendar year...#MySong5

Videos of the Week August 16th

Interesting mix of interviews, videos and commercials this week from some of my favorites. In my opinion, it's a toss up between Big Sean and Mike Posner for top video of the week. For those who weren't living under a rock this week and caught Kendrick Lamar's lyrical assault on Hip Hop, you're probably more than a little interested about how Big Sean felt about being called out on his own track. As the story goes, Big Sean laid down his verse first and then received Kendrick's after the fact. He made the decision to not go back and change his verse after being called out and actually got excited about the effect that it would have on Hip Hop. +10 pts for Big Sean taking the high road and releasing the track as is for the betterment of Hip Hop.

Coming in second is Mike Posner's adorable video for The Way It Used To Be. Long story short, he spends the majority of the video working together with his friends to convince the girl he was with to stay with him and not break up. I won't ruin the ending, but it's got a twist and it works out for Mikey in the long run. You can file that video under sh*t that doesn't happen in real life. Rounding out the list is some new Haim and an interesting short film with Just Blaze, Baauer and Jay Z...#Higher

"But I Fumbled it When it Came Down to the Wire"

As I sit here impatiently tapping my foot waiting for a debut album from Haim, I can't help but be momentarily appeased by their new single The Wire. The sisters have a truly unique and engaging vocal delivery that's eerily magnetic. I'll admit, after the first few seconds I immediately thought, is this an Eagles Heartache Tonight spin off? Then it took a left turn around the ten second mark, paving it's own unique path with the help of a bubbly, synth guitar driven beat.

Even if you aren't feeling Haim's music, you can't deny they have a fun, light-hearted vibe that's hard to dislike. Their combination of throwback R&B with indie/folk is unique in the cookie cutter music industry. The single below is set for a September 23rd release, which seems like years away. Let's just hope Wikipedia is correct in stating that "In June 2013 they finished their album, which will be available in September."...#TheWire

"I'm Floating Through the Night on a Red Eye, Red Eye"

After a quick first lap around Indicud, I'm already ready to pick a favorite track on the album. I can't say it's a surprise because when I caught wind of Scotty's collabo with Haim, it shot to the top of my most anticipated tracks right behind this one. There's an undeniable calmness about Red Eye that is addictive. The sisters are quickly becoming one of my favorite up and comers because of tracks like this one and Falling. It's a little strange that Cudi only chips in background vocals on Red Eye, but sometimes helping produce the track with Hit Boy and getting the hell outta the way is the best way to go. I'm going to have this on very heavy repeat over the next week or so...#Indicud

"Don’t Stop, No One’s Ever Enough"

Going on a year now I've continually heard @HAIMtheband's name bandied about throughout the blogosphere. I'm not going to pretend I know anything about their music yet, but what I do know is that when they start collaborating with some of my favorite artists, I'm going to start paying closer attention. That came a little over a week ago when @ducidni announced that he has a track on his upcoming album with Haim and @Hit_Boy...(Antennae goes up...).

Which brings us to the track at hand, feel free to grab a bite of the original version of Falling before diving into the dope remix...
Simple put, these three sisters and a drummer have a refreshingly unique style. It's a completely coin flip whether the remix below that @DukeDumont put together is as good as the original. What I do know is he did a great job of extracting the catchiest part and taking it up a notch in danceworthiness, but both versions are great in their own right. Key takeway, Haim is officially on my radar and they should be on yours too...#Haim
