Buzz Track: Edward Maya feat Vika Jigulina - Desert Rain

As I find myself making a conscious effort to expand both the music I listen to and the music I feature on the blog, I'm finding more and more really good electronic music. Whether it be Ratatat, LCD Soundsystem, Deadmau5, Crookers, or my new curiosity with Crystal Castles, the genre is chalked full of great music that I'm only beginning to discover. I'm well aware that most of the acts I just mentioned have been around for a while, but that doesn't mean you're well versed in all of their material, so you may be in the same boat in regarding them as "new acts". Apologies to those Hip Hop fans who are probably wondering why the hell I advertise as a Hip Hop blog and am consistently posting non-Hip Hop music. Hopefully you all are finding ways to sample and open your mind to new stuff like I am since I too was mostly a hardcore Hip Hop fan prior to liking a lot of this "other stuff" I'm posting.

With all that being said, enter Edward Maya, who recently made a splash on the US music scene with his single Stereo Love. Press play below if you need a refresher, but it's that electro, mid-tempo dance track with the accordion that sounds really unique when put on the contemporary radio backdrop.

Certified platinum single in Spain, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Switzerland...not a bad way to explode onto the music scene for the 24 year old Romanian musician from Bucharest who is in his last year at the Bucharest Conservatory.

I can officially say that he's the first artist from Romania I've opened put on blast through my writing and let's be honest, when you are matched up with an uber talented and more than a little good looking Russian born producer/singer Vika Jigulina, you're going to get attention. Feel free to chalk up the track below as another platinum worthy in Europe and radio worthy in the US, as @edwardmaya again uses his unique accordion samples to weave an almost Irish jig sounding electro/pop/dance anthem. I'm tellin you, you though the accordion was addicting in Stereo Love, it's just as catchy and even more upbeat on Desert Rain. You be the judge...
