It's My Birthday I'll Post Drake If I Want To...

If you're like me, you're probably still trying to shake that fresh New Years hang over and muster up some energy to do something else besides watch NFL football. Fortunately for you, you don't have to drive 11 hours home on your birthday, which will be the case for me as I try to caffeinate enough to ensure my car stays on the road. As an aside, New Years day birthdays may sound cool in concept, but it's just way too much in one week with Christmas. Put it this way if you knew that your birthday would further stress out people close to you because they have to account for two holidays in one week and on the night of your birthday everyone thought it was their birthday too (New Years Eve), would you want that to be your birthday?...#HellToTheNaw

But since it is my birthday, I'm posting a pretty bad ass @Drake mash-up sewn together by @wtwht. I'll first encourage you to read the write up by Charlie himself on the mash up because his description is going to be more organic than my second hand summary. I like this mash-up not only because Drake is featured, but also because it's a version vs version mash. If you paid attention to the list of samples on Take Care, you would have noticed that Gil Scott Heron actually did I'll Take Care of U before Drake covered it on his album and added @rihanna on the hook. Shouts out to Jamie xx on the original production of the Gil Scott Heron version.

There's no getting around the classic raspiness of Gil Scott Heron's voice. Sadly he passed away at the age of 62 this year, ending a long, storied career as a poet, musician and author. We lost a lot of people in 2011, hopefully 2012 is a lot less eventful in that aspect...#HappyNewYearYall

wait what - take care of u (drake vs gil scott heron & jamie xx)
