"I'll Always Be Calling You Home"

Holy euphoric Dubstep, Batman! Seven Lions has always been at or near the top of my short list of go-to artists when I get that itch for heavy, melodic drops. His new one proves exactly why he deserves that distinction. Calling You Home has a dreamy feel from the start, marked by angelic vocals from Runn. It isn't until shortly before the drop when the tempo picks up that you get an inkling that there's some treasure at the bottom of the next peak.

Let's just say the drop and subsequent chord progression was well worth the price of admission. The high-pitched, dreamy synth progression is enough to make a unicorn on Molly blush. It's instantly become one of my favorite Seven Lions tracks for all the reasons listed above. If you're as smitten as I am, follow me over to iTunes or Spotify to run a few laps...#CallingYouHome

Bassnectar's Music Can Transport You to Other Worlds

Wobbly, deep, ethereal, and vibrant are all adjectives I'd use to describe Bassnectar's new single Other Worlds. I feel like I've used all those words to describe Bassnectar at some point, but not all on the same track. That's a testament to him continuing to expand his reach stylistically while holding on to the Dubstep/Drum and Bass style that got him to where he is now.

Other Worlds and Slather are two teaser tracks that should get you excited for him new forthcoming Reflective EP Part 2 that's rumored to be dropping in December. In case you missed it, Reflective Part 1 was a six song EP that he dropped back in June. On the EP he had another collabo with Dorfex Bos that was equally as dope as the one below in Horizons. Maybe it's my current Stranger Things affliction, but there's something to these outer space sounding, eerie synth vibe tracks like the one below...#OtherWorlds

Seven Lions & Kill the Noise Are Cold Hearted

What and interesting mix of different EDM styles. One on hand you've got the ethereal/melodic vibes from Seven Lions and on the other you've got Kill the Noise's heavy, speaker reverberating bass. Part of me feels like the two styles work against each other because it's a challenge to be mellow and rowdy at the same time. Still, somehow Cold Hearted finds a way to meet in the middle with a Dubstep undercurrent serving as the glue between the conflicting sounds. To enjoy a track like this you have to willing to tolerate both sides of the spectrum, but that's part of what makes it unique. Check it on iTunes or Spotify if you too can appreciate the beauty of the chaos below...#ColdHearted

"Let the Music Carry Us Together"

There's no better hump day pick me up than a dose of melodic dubstep from Seven Lions. His ability to make ethereal, cooled-out-to-the-max beats is unmatched in my eyes. Their steady thumping drum and bass ensembles can transport you to another place mentally, which has always been a big reason why I've been in their corner. Their latest creation is more of a re-imagination, taking Ferry Corsten's well-known Beautiful down a different path. Check the original first for reference...

Where the original offers a steady progressive house feel, Seven Lions' remix is much more measured and heavy. The dramatic drops on his remix of Beautiful is much more my style, featuring just enough high pitched samples to offset the massive amount of chill. In summary, energetic chill is hard to do well, but Seven Lions has the secret sauce...#Beautiful

Datsik & Zach the Lad Will Make You Feel Good

I'm guilty of this as much as the next blogger, but sub-genre labels in EDM are about as subjective as wine. Is there a right answer? Maybe, but in the end it doesn't matter. What matters is whether or not the music coming through the speakers moves you and I will proudly say that Feel Good accomplished that outcome.

Datsik and Zach the Lad found a way to make this beautiful dubstep, melodic trap creation that is example parts interesting and bangin'. It goes gas, break on the heavy bass and slow drops to the point where you're not exactly sure what's coming around the corner. It skips along, it womb womps, and it even pauses for slow melodic build ups. There's an air of unpredictability that makes the sound of the track really enticing. If you enjoy it as much as I do, check it out on Dtasik's upcoming Darkstar EP that will be out on March 25th...#FeelGood

DJ Snake's Propaganda Gets Remixed Ten Different Ways

Just over a month back, I posted a new, exciting Trap track from DJ Snake titled Propaganda. To this day, the tribal rattle and heavy bass on that track continue to stick with me. It's easily one of the most provocative and unapologetically in your face tracks that I've heard from DJ Snake.

Whats even more exciting than the original is a full Propaganda Remix EP to snack on. Featuring reworks from the likes of Dillon Francis, Habstrakt and Kill the Noise (below), there's plenty of variety to latch onto. My favorite of the bunch is bouncy, dub-heavy mix by Kill the Noise. It's not for the faint of heart because you'll probably need to turn it down or risk not blinking for an entire three plus minutes. You better believe it goes hard and succeeds in harnessing the tribal energy from the original while adding a boat load of edgy synths to the equation. All in all, I hope you enjoyed the original because having it re-worked ten more times is a fun play at novelty, but skirts the line of being overdone...#Propaganda

Doctor P Goes to the Far East for Business

First and foremost, Doctor P is a name you should know if you're into dubstep. He's been lighting up the UK with loud drum and bass samples for the better part of a decade. Fast forward to present day where he's hooked up with everyone's favorite dance music crew, Far East Movement. When combined, their rowdy styles compliment each other pretty well. Far East brings an easily sample-able sound that fits well with clangy percussion, edgy synths and heavy bass drops. Apologies for the clean, BBC Radio 1 version, but if you're willing to be patient, you'll be able to cop this one on Black Friday when it hits your favorite internet e-tailer...#DoctorP

"Come on Parliament Funk"

There are few acts in electronic music that can create loud, controlled chaos. Some can do the loud, others can deliver a nice drop, but few can do it in an organized way like Knife Party. Case in point Parliament Funk off their new four song Trigger Warning EP. There's a hint of guitar riffs, bouncy chords, bright synths and soft piano all in one four minute and twenty second period. I'd liken it to Nero's ability to effortlessly inject heavy dubstep elements into hard driving electronic rhythms. There's an organized intensity that allows it to be listenable despite punching you square in the face. With this song, Knife Party has reached new funky heights on their way to paving a unique path through the monotony of mediocre EDM...#TriggerWarning

"Now When You Close Your Eyes Breathe, Just Breathe"

At first glance, when two artists with different styles collaborate, it can seem like an oil and water type of mix. That was my first reaction when seeing that Knife Party/Pendulum's Rob Swire and Eric Prydz were getting together on a track. Sure, epic collaboration, but Swire's edgy and rowdy sound matched with Prydz who is known for mellow EDM seem like an odd mix.

But that's why you don't judge a book by it's cover kids. Holy crap Breathe is awesome! It's the type of melodic Dubstep that I've grown to love thanks in large part of artists like Sub Focus. Rob's vocals were a nice addition to the track, but the steady bass mixing with ethereal chord progression just wins on all levels. All I have to offer is the Radio 1 rip, but that's more than enough to get me excited for the full version to trickle out...#Breathe

Caspa & Rusko Will Knock Off Ya Blouse an Skirt

After seeing HudMo step his live set up to another level last night, I'm starting to understand just how much I appreciate loud horns in Dubstep and Trap songs. Tracks like Chimes and 100hm come to mind if you're looking for some horny examples. I preface this post about Caspa and Rusko's new one with that because it deserves to be in the same loud horns discussion. If you remember back to 2007 when the dynamic duo released the FabricLive.37 and showed us the type of music they're capable of piecing together as CaspaRusko. Now they're back at it again with another loud and bouncy beat that will make your eyebrows raise a bit if you turn up the volume in your headphones. The provocative video below does justice to the song title and is edited in a way that puts to use wobbly transitions that emphasizes the mix of horns and bass. Tip of the cap to the two Dubstep legends and here's to hoping they have more than just this single up their sleeve...#BlouseAnSkirt

"We're Living Limitless, I Refuse to Just Exist"

When it comes to melodic Dubstep, it's Adventure Club, then everyone else. Their new one, Limitless, has the huge, heavy drops you're accustomed to, but also heavily features the vocals of uber-talented Delaney Jane. There's a soothing quality to the track that fits well with the repeatable lyrics. It's not easy to pull off a track that is relaxing, but packed with energy, but they somehow did it. Tip of the cap to Adventure Club for not only the track, but also offering the download up for free. Don't mind if I do...#Limitless

Some Thrilling New Nero

There are few acts that have a big enough sound to make an outdoor festival seem small. Nero is on that short list because their combination of drum and bass with pop vocals is second to none. It's hard to explain, but I find their sound to be loud, but calming. There is a clear force to their music, but at the same time their brand of rhythmic dubstep is soothing to me.

Word has it their sophomore album is almost ready to come out of the oven. The Thrill is the latest indication that another epic album is on the way. It's a bit tame, but will remind you a lot of their first album. Chalk it up to another potential Top 40 single and hop on the hype train because it just gained some steam tonight with the release of this goodness...#TheThrill

"I Don't Wanna Let You Fade Away"

As the energy and craziness continues to get ratcheted up more and more in EDM, I'm gaining an appreciation for the soothing dubstep rhythms of Adventure Club. What I like best about their style is that they usually lead with a chopped up vocal sample, but still find a way to deliver a post-drop exclamation point. Staying true to form, their new one featuring Zak Walters initially feels like an emotion soaked ballad, but fires on all cylinders around the one minute mark. The depth of the bass, high pitched synths and methodic tempo are what make Fade one of my favorite tracks I've heard in recent memory...#Fade

"Would Someone Get Me Out of Here?"

On first impression, you would expect a track by Steve Aoki and Flux Pavilion to be a rage-fest. Both are known for their ability to ignite clubs, so you'd think combining the two forces would be like putting gasoline on dynamite, right? Not exactly, but that doesn't take anything away from their soothing, melodic dubstep concoction below.

Kill those preconceived notions of the word soothing because even though the tempo of Get Me Outta Here doesn't push the needle, the drop still packs a punch. The controlled synths result in a formulaic ebb and flow, but the heavy bottom provides plenty of oomph. This is one of a hand full of tracks that I'm excited about on Steve Aoki's upcoming sophomore album Neon Future I...#NeonFutureI

Castle Walls Gets the Dubstep Treatment

http://goodmusicallday.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/T.I.-f.-Christina-Aguilera-Castle-Walls-Collin-McLoughlin-Skrux-Remix.jpg
T.I.'s Castle Walls was hands down my favorite track off his No Mercy album. The beat by Alex Da Kid, the hook by Christina and T.I.'s thoughtful verses all combined to make one hell of a track. Check it below for a refresher...

Fast forward three years later and we now have a ethereal dubstep mix of the original from Collin McLoughlin and Skrux. It proceeds at a slow, measured pace, but Christina's melancholy sample resonates over the heavy electronics. T.I. is nowhere to be found in this mix, but I'll concede that it would have been a challenge to seamlessly weave a Hip Hop verse into the instrumental driven remix. Cool out to this one y'all...#CastleWalls

"Spread Your Wings Cause We Ain't Goin' Down"

If you're in the mood for some ethereal dubstep, you're in the right place tonight. Up and comer Alma enlisted the help of two EDM heavyweights Sound Remedy and (personal favorite) Kill Paris for her new sing Avalanches. The vocals are heavenly, the drops are epic, it's a really likeable track. Without a doubt the best part of the track is around the 2:23 mark where Kill Paris sinks his teeth into the beat and shows out a bit. Matter of fact, I'd say it's safe to say Kill Paris is quickly becoming one of my favorite DJs. Take that for what it's worth, but if you're in the same boat, that's good news for you because I'll be posting his new stuff frequently. Til then, vibe out to this avalanche of electronic goodness...#Avalanches

"You Know You Love It"

Music that has a personality you wouldn't expect is an interesting phenomena. For example, the type of misdirection that Bassnectar put into his latest West Coast Lo Fi Remix of Heads Up is an example of what I'm getting at. The song starts off like a spaced out version of Christmas carol and continues for a whole minute until a brief, "You know you love it" gives way to a dubstep drop that goes 0 to 60 mph in a second. When you're listening on Soundcloud the waveforms take away the anticipation a bit, but it's pretty awesome. I'd suggest slipping this into a chill playlist and going crazy when the beat drops because the intro would lead you to believe that is isn't as fierce as it really is. Don't be fooled kind friend, share with your friends...#Bassnectar

Dubstep With Dinosaur Cover Art

When elements like heavy bass, dubstep and trap can all be throw together in one beautiful symphony, you've got my attention. This isn't the first time that Savoy has come through with something this awesome, but they continue to churn out awesome EDM on a consistent basis. It doesn't happen much, but it's usually a good sign when a group goes out of their way to remix their own track. The trio from Brooklyn employed a few epic drops that will make even the most square non-dance music fan nod their head a little bit. You can add me to the list of bloggers who are more than a little excited to hear Savoy's upcoming Self Predator album, due out on January 14th. Just cranked up the volume on this guy and that was one of the better decisions I've made the past 24 hours...#ImInNeed

"Why Won't You Give Me Your Love Sweet Love"

Like clockwork, Flux Pavilion is back with another melodic dubstep anthem. This time he enlisted the help of sultry vocals Rosie Oddie. The track features heavy drops and powerful vocals that produce a easily digestible pop feel. The track is set to surface on Flux's upcoming five song Freeway EP due out on November 11th. The only real question that remains is, "why won't you give me your love, sweeeet love?"...#GoldLove

Method Man Wants You to Jump in the Pit

As the EDM train rapidly whizzes by, engulfing everything in it's path, it looks like Method Man just became a passenger. The real question you need to ask yourself is, are you in the mood for a raw, uptempo, electro-Hop track or a loud, dubstep club pleaser that dabbles in Hip-Hop. If you're in the mood for the former, check out the graphic, animated video for the original Doctor P and Adam F track with Meth below...

No matter how you feel about the sound of the track, you've gotta be excited about the prospect of Method Man contributing to new music being made. If that doesn't excite you enough, then you might as well call this Wah Wah Wednesday because Datsik just injected a whole lotta dub in the step of The Pit. Honestly, for me, the remix below is about as much Wah Wah I can tolerate when it comes to dubstep. Sure, it's cool EDM sub-genre, but too much of anything that intense requires the right mood and crowd to fully appreciate. Who knows, you may like to wild out more than me, so you may like it even more than I do...#ThePit.
