"Got a Handful of Gold, So Don't Let it Go"

One thing I really geek out over is when artists known for producing EDM flip the script and turn out a track that makes you re-evaluate the range of music they're capable of making. Case in point, Cazzette's new one Handful of Gold. It's a feel-good ballad that hardly sounds anything like EDM, but it's an amazingly unique song. When listening for the first time, I waited for the formulaic drop and didn't get it, but instead was rewarded with this unexpectedly heavy horn progression followed by an airy guitar riff. Sure, JONES vocals are perfect for the track, but this is truly one of those standout instrumentals that succeed in taking the listener on an adventure across the wide spectrum of emotion. There's some heartfelt vibes, some excitability, even a touch of inspiration in the mix. You want the definition of standout track in electronic music? It's this because it makes you question whether or not it should even be considered EDM, yet you really like it. I'd say I'm impressed, but you already know that by now, so iTunes or Spotify if you're with me...#HandfulOfGold

Cazzette Does Deep on Chaka Khan's Miss My Love

If you're going to be remixing or sampling classic R&B vocals, you had better come strong. And that's exactly what Cazzette did when they transformed a Chaka Khan track into cooled out, Deep House groove. If you're like me and were born in the 80s, you may have missed the original and as a result, will have to use your imagination on what it sounds like because finding an actual streamable version of the original is incredibly hard to find. That's what makes the remix even more impressive, they recycled great vocals that not many people will remember. For me, it's the perfect way to kick off a relaxing weekend and it will even mix well with some of your favorite Trop House tracks. I like my EDM smooth and versatile, which is why the bootleg below found itself seamlessly transitioning to a few of the mixes I am putting together this weekend...#MissMyLove

Sleepless Gets the Tropical House Treatment

Another day, another really listenable Tropical House remix. Before pressing play on the newest addition to my Tropical House playlist, I was skeptical because of how much I liked the original version of Sleepless and due to the fact that it has been so heavily remixed already. Despite my high expectations, I was impressed with what Hotel Garuda & Thero were able to do with the vocals on the original. It broke up the familiarity of the track and they even mixed in a good amount of saxophone as icing on the cake. If you're a fan, feel free and head on over to the TSIS soundcloud page and cop it for $free.50...#TropicalHouse

Videos of the Week July 4th

More of an audio focused videos of the week with a few promos and funny videos sprinkled in. Only Skrillex would make a sweet video game-y promo for a four song remix EP. Along those same lines, I will definitely be tuned into the Espys for Drake hosting. We'll see if he can hold his own stand up wise on the intro and between awards. My guess is he's good friends with so many of the athletes that he should have the green light to drop a few one liners.

As far as funny in concerned, seeing Kendrick Lamar rock karaoke was an entertaining watch. Not sure whether he tried to be intentionally rough around the edges on songs, but that's what happens in real life so you never know. My favorite video of the week, was hearing Dave Chappelle's five minute routine on Donald Sterling. Man, if anybody is questioning whether or not he's back, all my doubts are now gone. Finally, if you've ever had a jealous ex, you'll be able to empathize with Cazzette's Sleepless video. Happy 4th of July y'all...#4thOfJulyVideo

"Cause I'm Sleepless About You"

Just when I thought I had a bead on Cazzette, they took a sharp left turn toward a new deep house sound. You might remember last year's hit Beam Me Up, which put the Swedish duo on the map. Their new single, Sleepless, is nothing like Beam Me Up. It features a heavy bassline led instrumental that compliments a muffled, but melodic vocal sample. Unexpectedly fresh is a good way to describe it. It takes the emerging deep house sound and transforms it into something dripping with emotion and rhythm. No word yet on when a new album is coming out, but color me excited about what Cazzette is doing...#Sleepless

Videos of the Week November 16th

This week comes in a a little Hip Hop heavy with @Slaughterhouse, @Ludacris, @RealWizKhalifa and @S_C_ coming in with new videos. Along with that is a developing EDM favorite with @CAZZETTE's latest single Beam Me Up. I said it when I first posted the track, but Slaughterhouse's track Goodbye is a really moving track if you give the stories a listen. I know you wouldn't normally think of the group as serious or intensely sensitive group, but if you listen close and take a minute to get into their stories, you'll be pleasantly surprised...#RapGeniusAssist
