"Put Your Filthy Hands All Over Me"

It's going to be tough, but I'm going to try really hard limit my excitement and refrain from littering this post with !!! and 😀🙃😃. It's not just the fact that Justin Timberlake put out a new single today and has a new album (Man of the Woods) on the way. Yes, that's dope, but it doesn't take away from the holy triumvirate that is Justin Timberlake/Timbaland/Danjahandz that reconvened on his new track below.

Filthy lives up to its name with a grimy, wobbly, new-age funk beat that will immediately grab your attention and stand out as different. The vibe is best described as what you'd hope for if Daft Punk and Pharrell put together a dance track. The futuristic I, Robot style choreographed dancing robot video seems apropos for the futuristic funk vibe of the track. The beat breakdown around the 3:45 mark is trademark Timbo and Danja too. You feel like you're listing to a new beat, but they blend it with the original instrumental so well that it's clean af. Man...if Justin's new album is going to be filled with exciting new tracks like this one, 2018 is going to be a fun year...#Filthy

"How Could I Ever Repay, I.O.U."

As someone who believes producers are a bigger predictor of track success than the artist, a good move to get my attention is to find a way to get a big name producer to fork over a beat for you. There's a good chance I'll be able to tell whether it was money or talent that enabled you to procure the beat, but I've found that more often than not, getting a producer co-sign is usually an indication of talent. So for example, when your lead single is produced by The Runners, then Danjahandz produces your remix, big huge red sirens go off in my head that force me to listen.

Enter, Luke James, who is signed to Danja's NARS (New Age Rock Stars) label. Evidently he'll be opening for Beyonce this summer on some of her tour dates, which is another nice feather in his cap. In case you haven't heard the original version of I.O.U. that came out in early February, check out the lyric video below.

The original is cool and all, but the remix with Wale blows the original out of the water. On the remix Luke manages to pull a Trey Songz/Kevin Cossom and sing/rap his way to multi-dimensional success. I'm a big fan of artists than can pull off both, so you better believe I'll be keeping an eye on Luke's upcoming debut album Made to Love due out July 16th...#NARS

"Maaaan Let's Get Medicated"

After a full lap around @RealWizKhalifa's new album O.N.I.F.C., I'll admit I wasn't blown away like I was when I first listened to Rolling Papers, but I also wasn't disappointed. There were at least two or three tracks on Rolling Papers that I liked more than the singles he released and I was able to find those same type of hidden gems on his new album, which is why I'm satisfied.

For me, it was a toss up between Medicated and Paperbond as my favorite hidden gem. The tie breaker ended up being the beat on the track below that I just couldn't get out of my head. It makes completely sense now that I noticed Danja was behind the boards and to be honest just seeing him on the track took it up a couple notches. Maybe I'm not speaking for the masses, but production credits are the first thing I look at when trying to negotiate an album for the first time. It's probably getting old hearing me preach my producer over artist rhetoric, but I'll hold firm on that until I find an artist (other than @Drake) that can churn out the type of no brainer quality that a producer like Danja does.

On a side note, it was interesting hearing @therealjuicyj rap over a non-strip club beat. It's been a while since I've heard him go in on a track that sounds softer than his usually music. He did his thing though, so no hatin' over here with respect to the legendary Triple Six member. In case you missed it, O.N.I.F.C just dropped this week and it's worth a listen...#ONIFC

"Said She Wanna Check the Pole, I Said Okay Sarah Palin"

It's rare that you see an artist leak two high profile singles on one day, but that's what @chrisbrown did on Tuesday. With one dope single under his belt in the form of Turn Up the Music, he figured why not knock out two and three at once? Sweet Love featuring the production of @polowdadon will serve as the second single and the track below, Till I Die with @bigsean and @realwizkhalifa will serve as the third single off his upcoming album Fortune, which is scheduled for a May 4th release.

The track below is my favorite of the two singles, but not by much. It's tough when you're deciding between singles produced by Polow Da Don and Danjahandz, who are without question top 10 producers in the game. The track is about as breezy and laid back as it gets with CB opting to go the lyricist route spitting verses with two of the best in the game. In looking at the recorded tracks on Fortune, I see tracks we have yet to hear produced by @therealrunners, @iamdrumma and @davidguetta, making me think that three singles is probably the tip of the iceberg. Even better it looks like he's tracked down his great white buffalo too, which more or less puts a bow on his comeback from public scrutiny...for now at least...

JoJo's Sexy To Me

Suffice to say, any new track that I find is produced by Danja is an automatic post. Simply put, dude knows how to handle his craft and make high energy tracks that suck you in and make you move. This time it's @JOJOISTHEWAY's turn to ride the Danjatrain to success with her new club hit Sexy To Me. Even though I've always caught hell from the fellas for openly supporting her first two albums JoJo and The High Road, which we released when she was 14 and 16 respectively, it hasn't stopped me from writing about her music. You see over 18 women drooling over Bieber, so why is it not ok for me to be a fan of JoJo's music when she's just as talented? #DoubleStandard

Matter of fact I saw an interesting de-motivational poster that touches on this very subject. Don't even get me started on Twilight...
I digress, but what's really important is that you know JoJo has an album coming out titled Jumping Trains due out in April. In case you missed it, back in September she released her lead single from the album titled Disaster, which served as more of a powerfully emotional ballad and showed off her vocals a bit.

If you were to ask me, I'd pick her new single over the lead single, but I'm biased because of the Danja beat. Still with names like @only1darkchild, @boi1da, and @timbaland listed on the production credits for her new album, you better believe I'll eagerly waiting for April to come...#DontSleepOnIt

"They Don't Make 'Em Like This No More"

I know it's getting old, but until @kevincossom has a million followers on Twitter and is a household name, I'm gonna keep posting every song of his. Sure he's gotten a few big features of late and his newest single did some work on iTunes and in the clubs, but I feel like everyone is still missing out on a lot of the quality tracks like his new one below. It's never a bad thing to be partners in crime with one of the best producers in Hip Hop (Danja), but make no mistake, he can get it done as a vocalist no matter who is behind the boards. No word yet on whether this will appear on his upcoming Hook Vs. Bridge 2.0, but if it's anywhere near as good as 1.0, you can count on me letting you know all about it.

As far as the track is concerned, you can expect a mid-tempo ballad with plenty of harmony. The beat is easy on the ears and the hook will suck you in and have you singing "from you head, down to the floor" on first listen. I'm guessing this is a rough draft/unfinished version of the track since there is a good 30 second beat ride out after the last verse where a bridge would have been inserted. Regardless, it's worth an addition to the newest iTunes playlist that you can now wirelessly sync with your iPhone/iTouch/iPad. Speaking of updates, I don't know about y'all, but Siri has the potential to be revolutionary and if you don't know what I'm talking about go here. I personally can't wait til I can teach Siri to understand what I'm in the mood for music wise...#StepYouriGameUp

Keri Hilson and Kevin Cossom Are Both So Good

Ah yes the timeless question, Who Rocked it Better? Was it the writer who demo'd the track (@KEVINCOSSOM) or the artist who managed to put it on their album (@MISSKERIBABY)? Usually it's a cut and dried distinction because one of the artists knocked it out the park, while the other managed to make it their own, but still came up short.

This one is more like picking your favorite kid or for me, picking your burrito place. Usually it's Chipotle, but sometimes I can't help going to Baja Fresh because their salsa is so damn good. I've consistently been in both Keri and Kevin's corner (say that three times fast) and that's not just because they're both really talented, but they also rub shoulders with two of the best producers in the game @TIMBALAND and Danjahandz. While Keri is more known as an elite singer, Kevin is more known for writing and producing, but that doesn't mean he can't pull off his own ballad.

Case in point, his version of the song he wrote, So Good, produced by Danja and officially released as a deluxe bonus track on Keri's newest album, No Boys Allowed. It's really splitting hairs as to who did it better because every time I hear one version, I think it's the better one. You be the judge though, who rocked it the best?

Kevin Cossom is a Name You Should Know

In a week, I'd consider myself fortunate to find one track produced by Danjahandz, Boi-1da and The Runners. They're three of the best producers in Hip Hop and R&B and when artist go to them for tracks, their sights are usually on a top 10 single on iTunes that will be the basis for why people will want to buy their album. I say all this because three tracks, all sung by @KEVINCOSSOM flashed across the radar. The one below prod by Danja gets top billing with the @boi1da produced demo Change Your Mind coming in a close second. And now that I listen to @therealrunners produced track My Love, I'm starting to have reservations about my rankings because that's a hot track too.

Oh and if you missed it last week, Kevin's new video with @iamdiddy @MYFABOLOUSLIFE made plenty of waves on MTV. Check the video below and iTunes for the track if you were late to the party...
I'm hoping some of the above mentioned tracks aren't all demo tracks and that he uses the to put together an epic debut album. No word on a release date, but we can all hope for 2011 being the year when Jive puts some backing behind one of the most talented up and coming R&B artists.

Usher Flirts With Danja and Admits It

Oh how perfect, an upbeat country guitar beat laden track about admitting to cheating! Wait what...? Yea kinda interesting, maybe if you see it from the "I'll never do it again, I'm a changed man" angle it seems more appropriate? Subject matter aside, the beat is hella-head nod worthy as Danjahandz delivers more of a rolling, rhythmic style beat that is in stark comparison to much of his bread and butter work with the synythesizer and exaggerated claps.

Kinda hard not to get lost in the happy, energetic vibe this track exudes. Just sounds like a real high quality, sharp, well produced track, which is what you should expect from @usherraymondiv and the legendary handz of Danja. Put this one on your driving to Happy Hour from work mix, it'll put you in the right mood...

Sample Justice: Nikki Flores vs Journey - City Lights

Out of all the Sample Justices I've passed judgment on this may be toward the top of the list as far a no brainer, emphatic, hell yesses when it comes serving justice for the sample provided. In case you haven't heard of the beautiful Nikki Flores, you may need to check out a few of her other tracks like Suffocate (prod by Danja) and I Wanna Know You Like That.

It does take quite a bit of courage and audacity to try and tackle a track as classic and timeless as Journey's - Lights. Check it out below if you need a quick F5...

I would have been skeptical of her ability to navigate such a tall task on her own, but under the guidance of the extremely talented Ryan Tedder, it proved to be well within her vocal and musical talents to take the original and put a 21st century spin on it. To get a feel for her musical talents, where she is going with her new album and to get a firsthand sample of how angelic of voice she has, click the play button below...

Pretty tough to beat her potential as an artist, she's got the looks, the voice and now she's under Ryan Tedder's Patriot Records umbrella.

Go out and support Nikki by copping the real version here and give it a listen while you're at it. You be the judge, was justice served?

"You`re so Beautiful...Don't Leave Me Rose"

Thought I'd switch gears for a quick sec with a tugging-on-your-heart-strinsg style ballad delivered by NLT lead singer Travis Garland. I needed a break on the constant Joe Budden and Kanye posts and what better way to break up the high powered Hip Hop with a complete 180, borderline boy-band flavored ballad.

Before you get all judgmental with the pillow-softness of this track, consider first the beautifully crafted instrumental delivered by the legendary handz of Danja. The high pitched concoction of synthesizers blends with the steady back and forth clap of the beat adding to the emotion dripped sorrow the track leaves in your mouth. Kinda reminds me of one of my favorite Danja beats he did for the Pussycat Dolls on Halo. Both beats have that sort of flute driven, medieval style minstrel sound to it that works extremely well over sad lyrics meant to evoke emotion.

Don't discount @travisgarland either, dude has a great voice and is on the rise with his new album coming out later this year. He made waves a few months back with his hit Believe that he performed on American Idol, which was also a Danja production. In case you missed it too, he did a pretty damn good job covering B.O.B.'s track Airplanes as well as T.I. and Justin's track Dead & Gone. In other words, heads up folks, dare I compare him to Justin?

Regardless, if you're in the mood for a sappy slow jam with top flight production and some solid vocals, give it a listen...

Buzz Track: Kevin Cossom feat Fabolous & Diddy - Baby I Like It (prod by Danjahandz)

"No choice but to like it,
If she bad I'ma check on it, Nike it"
Last year on a New Artist Spotlight I raved about how great Kevin Cossom's Hook vs Bridge mixtape was and said a prayer aloud that we'd get more material from him in the form of an album. Apparently someone may have been listening as the first single has dropped off @KEVINCOSSOM's upcoming album set to debut in 2011. Being signed to Danja's NARS record label, he's got argueably the hottest producer collaborating on most of his material and when combined with Kevin's  writing talents, it's a tough combination to match.
As far as this track is concerned, you get a tutorial on how to manipulate tempo on a beat as Danjahandz, adds and subtracts beat elements, which highlights different parts of the beat and verses providing the appropriate spotlight and get the most out of the track. From the onset where @MYFABOLOUSLIFE jumps in on his verse over a hyped up rolling beat aided by ad libs by @IAMDIDDY. I found it cool that the bass on the track is added, subtracted throughout the track to emphasize the vocals...in other words you can clearly hear the lyrics throughout the verses, but when the hook his. the bass takes over, giving the track an energy boost that will only serve to make folks wilds out on the dance floor.

Go support Kevin on iTunes, this is a track that needs to be added to your Party/Get Hype playlist. Great chance this is going to be your girl's favorite song, it's got that club appeal and upbeat dance vibe that is irresistible to girls in heels...

Diddy At It Again...Dirty Money feat T.I. - Hello Good Morning (prod by Danjahandz)

Just last week Diddy opened the American Idol results show with this track and the performance below:

Not gonna lie that strobe light dance breakdown at the 2:20 mark was kinda sick...even with Diddy's dance moves. A lotta people hate on Diddy for his cut throat business ways, but you can't hate on the genuine energy he brings to music that his name is attached to. Let's just say it must be nice to have him in your corner because he likes making money and if you're gonna help him do that, he'll be your biggest resource. Just watching him work the stage, engage the crowd, hug the judges and Seacrest...it all goes into pulling people in and it's a job he does remarkably well. With a single like this coming out, Dirty Money has a one way ticket toward commercial success.
PS Danja assassinated this beat...holy ish, man that combination of upbeat synthesizers with the bowling ball heavy bass is awe inspiring. Only he and Timbo seem to be able to seamlessly switch up the beat mid-track (like where Diddy is rapping on this track) and have it sound like it was meant to happen. That 10 second bass transition between beats at the 2:46 mark in the song is also pretty disgusting in it's own right.

Before I forget, don't discount T.I.'s verse and continuation of him putting his mark on just about every new Hip Hop and R&B track lately. That whole year off doesn't seem to have fazed Clifford one bit:
"Hello, good morning, how you doing with the movie
And welcome to the future I’m the captain of the cool kids
The revolutions never been televised
Great booty better thighs I ain’t wanna tell her bye"
Great club track, look forward to this comin' out the speakers the next time you're in a dance floor mood...

Dirty Money feat T.I. Diddy - Hello Good Morning (prod by Danjahandz) HHOOOTTTT NEW R&B!!!!!

BONUS: Guess Rick Ross already wants a piece of the track and decided to get in on the remix already...before most people even know about it. Check it...

LOL is Overrated...Whatever Happened to the Old Fashioned Ha Ha?

When was the last time you actually laughed when you wrote "lol"? Grow up Peter Pan, lol has become the expression you put when you have nothing to say...whatever happened to uncomfortable silence or just not answering? Are we really that soft as a culture that we have to humor people everytime they think they're being funny (I sure hope so, my confidence is dependent on that) or is it just lazy flirting (both). Everyone knows lol has lived it's shelf life and it's about to get put on special sale...what's special sale you ask? I'm talkin' that "oh the price just got marked down by 50% at the grocery store cause whatever you're buyin' is damn near rotten" type of special sale...no need to patronize anymore...keep it 100 with exclamations, CAPS, even mix it up with a hehe if you're feelin' frisky, just don't be lazy with an lol...man that shit grinds my gears and in the words of Jigga, society "WE OFF THAT!"...

I needed to get that off my chest...as for the music, you may be wondering to yourself what does the person above have to do about laughing or even more importantly the track below, Fat Joe's new single Ha Ha feat Young Jeezy. Seem rising producer extraordinaire Scoop Deville also put his mark on this track with what you could call an "attention grabbing" beat. If you accused me of being a favoritist of loud, percussion laced, heavy beats I'd applaud you for payin' attention.

Now when I use the face "attention grabbing" I mean beats like this here by Dr Dre (Detox may or may not end music as we know it) or the legendarily low A Milli beat by Bangladesh or this heat rock by DJ Khalil this here by Polow da Don, maybe these two by Timbo/Danjahandz shoot I'd even give a long hard look at this Ryan Leslie beat.

Now I'm not trying to compare this beat to those in the last paragraph, but I will compare it to Scoop's first beat I Wanna Rock with Snoop. Considering how many artists freestyled over the beat, it's pretty clear that the whole Hip Hop game took note of the production credits.

Time for you to take note of a bangin' first single by Joey Crack...oh and a little bit of Jeezy mixed in...sorry auxiliary, replaceable artists, the beat gets the dap on this one...

Fat Joe feat Young Jeezy - Ha Ha (prod by Scoop Deville) Hoott!!!

The Month of Usher...Welcome Back Mr. Raymond

It's been quite a while since I've seen such a high volume of quality tracks from one artist find their way out on the public...um...internet I mean (same thing these days right?). Yes, Love in this Club was good and Moving Mountains was great, even classic I'd dare say with Usher's emotion soaked lyrics and Danjahandz's picturesque beat, but his album Here I Stand in it's entirety wasn't anything to write home about and not near the caliber of some of his other efforts like My Way or Confessions.

So what has changed since 2008 this is going to make this new album a return to classic Ursher material? Well for one, as of this summer he's now divorced from his former wife Temeka Foster, which surely will have some sort of emotional toll good or bad on his music. I'm not sure about Usher but some of the most creative stuff I've ever produced, created or written has been shortly after a break up...I'm guessing the reason for that can be blamed on the heightened emotion levels I poured into what I was doing. Hopefully we get the same from him with this new album...

Which brings us to his new project, Raymond vs Raymond, which is supposed to drop on March 2, 2010. Originally slated for a December release, the album has been pushed back with plenty of rumors regarding a relationship with a competing record company employee as well a plenty of...well...leaked promotional tracks. It remains to be seen if the below tracks will make the final cut, but honestly I don't think it matters whether people hear it now or hear it later, it's quality material that will sell no matter what in my opinion.

Here are my five favorite new Usher tracks:

1. Usher feat Nicki Minaj - Little Freak (prod by Polow Da Don) Sexy!!!

This track is quite a bit more lyrically explicit than any Usher track I've heard. The track says to me he's got that post-break up swag back and he's back to being in touch with how much the ladies have always loved him and just how far he can take that. Of course it doesn't hurt to have Polow da Don drop a crazy hot beat that amplifies the already overtly sexual lyrics. I don't really mind Nicki Minaj's verse either, she's finding her niche in the Hip Hop game, especially with her growing contingent of Barbie followers. Hot track and I'm guessing soon to be cleaned up radio hit.

2.Usher - There Goes My Baby (prod by Jim Jonsin) Nice Slow Jam!!!

My second favorite is more of smooth slow jam of sorts that is set off perfectly by none other than the man himself Jim Jonsin. Impossible to go wrong with him or Polow for that matter, but this one is on a grown and sexy slow jam tip. The beat takes a turn for the dramatic at the end when he goes semi-acapella and hits a few of those high notes. Really makes you think about how proud you are of that dime piece you managed to fool fall in love with you.

3. Usher - Foolin Around (prod by Jermaine Dupri & B. Cox) Slow Jam!!!

Now this one may actually end up being my favorite, but it hasn't quite had the opportunity to marinate on me yet. This is more on the U Got it Bad and Nice and Slow level of slow jams. I mostly blame B. Cox and his mastery through writing and producing R&B tracks. It really is ridiculous how many great songs he's been behind, give this one a quick read to get yourself learned on a legend.

4. Usher - So Many Girls (prod by Danjahandz) Hot Club Track!!!

Just for good measure why not throw in another slightly edgy and dark, in your face, upbeat banger with Danja. Keeping up with the whole single vibe, noting just how many girls there are out there, Mr. Raymond is definitely back on his grizzly adams if get what I'm sayin'. This one will be sure to catch the attention of all the ladies who enjoy the upbeat, in your face synthesizers that Danja is known for.

5. Usher - Oh My Gosh (prod by Will I Am) Hooot Club Song!!!

Yea, I could be accused of taking a nap on this one on first listen. This time I turned it up a little louder and it's definitely likable in that very radio friendly, measured clap sound that Will I Am/Black Eyed Peas have become known for. It does go pretty hard though, despite not sounding like an Usher track...or at least anything he's done previously. That might be a good thing though, this one is a little too simple lyrically for me to really love, but the way the beat keeps changing pace is pretty awesome, especially when it morphs itself into a slow jam around the 3:30 mark. Well put together track...

Bonus: Alright I couldn't keep it to 5 tracks, again there's just waaay too many US-HER quality tracks circulating, I couldn't do justice with 5.

6. Usher - Slippin Hot Slow Jam!!

Had to throw in another piano laced slow jam. This one warn boyfriends to not take your girl for granted cause "...you got caught slippin, now your girl's gone missin, now you're alone wishin'". Never fun to be on the losing side of the battlefield of love...this one ranks up there with R Kelly's - When a Woman's Fed Up.

Great producers, a mix of up-tempo club songs with a couple more classic slow jams...Raymond vs Raymond is gonna be exciting...Welcome back Ursher!

New Artist Spotlight - Tony Collins

Other than maybe Kevin Cossum, I don't think I'm more excited about any other up and coming R&B artist more than I am Tony Collins. Kev Cossum has the backing of Danja, which cannot be understated, but this dude nicknamed "The Boy Wonder" (not to be confused with Boi -1da) is seemingly carving his own niche by himself.

Even better, he's only 21 and doin' his absolute best to hold down BK to the fullest. My only guess to why he is unsigned is that there is some kind of bidding war going on because I am already a firm believer after listening to just two tracks. Sadly, its damn near impossible to find info on him other than he started singing/songwriting at the age of 12.

The comparisons to Chris Brown are fair and mostly accurate voice wise, but I feel like what Chris Breezy has to offer with dancing, you counter with lyrics. Needless to say it's stupid that you only have like 35k total plays on your MySpace page because the upbeat synth beats you're sporting so far will cater to what the general populace is liking now...and that's not an insult, it's good news for you if you wanna make a name for yourself. For being unsigned you have a very refined sound and that is probably thanks to the time you've spent writing lyrics. Add it all up...the aforementioned lyrical experience, simple but catchy beats prod by C.F. and the very underrated Oak of Knightwritaz, your soulful voice, sprinkle in some occasional rapping, all in all you've got lots to offer Boy Wonder.

I know my modest opinion on this blog post won't do much to get your name out there, but rest assured you do have fans on both coasts because I will do my part to get your music to their ears with my Monthly Song List I send out.

Give these songs a listen, you'll feel ahead of the curve being a fan before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon:

Tony Collins - Get Into You (prod by C.F.) Hoooot Mid-Tempo Ballad!!!
Tony Collins - Fall in Love (prod by Oak) Addictive Slow Jam!!!

New Artist Spotlight: Kevin Cossom

Quickly gaining steam in the underground is up and coming R&B sensation Kevin Cossom. Lo and behold homie was born in illadelph too! What you don't know about this dude is he's very well known in the game already as a go-to writer for hit singles. Yea you guys may have heard a couple of the hooks he wrote: Rick Ross - Speedin, Young Jeezy - Go Getta, Maino - All the Above, Ace Hood - Cash Flow...just to name a few new ones.

Needless to say he's got the tools for success in his writing ability and on top of that he's now starting to do his own R&B thing, having just released his own Pre-album through his myspace. Luckily for him, he's made music with two of the biggest production giants in The Runners (songs above) and is now signed to Danjahandz's record label N.A.R.S. (New Age Rock Stars).

Here are a couple of his best songs that you probably haven't heard yet. Be sure and check out that new one with Snoop prod by Danja....crazy
