"Cause Girl You're Perfect, You're Always Worth it"
When it comes to penning ballads chalked full of sexual tension, there's nobody more potent that The Weeknd. As such, he's a no brainer fit for the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack. Any guy who has had a significant other read the smut graphic novels documenting Christian Grey's sexcapades knows that the series is a double edged sword. I don't need to get into why because that's abundantly clear to those who understand the previous sentence. The sheer fact that I know the name of the trilogy's protagonist without reading a word of the book should speak volumes about how much it became intertwined in pop culture.
Having now listened to the track a few times, I gotta say, I was shocked by how tame the lyrics were. Earned It is more of an ode to the "apple of your eye" type of track with The Weeknd preaching more appreciation than lust. Maybe it's just me, but there's been a lot of likable R&B of late that is starting to conjure up some excitement for 2015. While I won't be seeing 50 Shades of Grey in theaters, I will be looking forward to seeing a lot more quality R&B on the Soundtrack...#EarnedIt
