"Don't Wanna Hurt Nobody, But They Make It So Hard"
When it comes to outta left field collabos, Mayer Hawthorne's new one with Kendrick Lamar ranks right up near the top. The smooth R&B vocals mixed with smooth Hip Hop delivery sounds enticing strictly on the name value of the two artists, but the end result more than lives up to the hype. The thump of the beat draws you in and gives way to some bluesy guitar that sets a sexy tone for some Mayer falsetto. Then, right around the 2:10 mark, the coach goes out to the mount and gestures toward his right arm to bring in the closer. Kendrick's verse is energetic and jumpy, but hits the spot for the the fun, party vibe of the track.
To answer your question, Mayer's new album, Where Does This Door Go hits iTunes in a week on the 16th. Based on his new single below, I have very little doubt that it will more than meet expectations. If you haven't made Mayer Hawthorne part of your music library...well...shame on you...but feel free to rectify that when his new album drops next week...#WhereDoesThisDoorGo
