Concert Review: Lil Wayne America's Most Wanted Tour

Let me first say I had this circled on my calendar for over a month because that's when tickets went on sale. The concert lineup included Soulja Boy, Young Jeezy, Drake and Lil Wayne. First of all if you have ever been to the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, its a decent venue. Pretty nice pavilion to go along with the abundance of room on the lawn, but what was disturbing was how incredibly difficult it is to actually get there. Needless to say it's in a pretty rough part of town and getting in and out almost makes any show not worth it...

As far as the show, it had the potential to be a solid concert...aside from Soulja Boy whose music career would be better suited to dance tutorials and instrumentals. For those of you who know me by my Song List write ups, you know how much of a fan I am of Drake. He is beginning to sky rocket to the top of the Hip Hop game with his stylistic versatility and swag infused lyrical genius. Pulling up to the concert I remember thinking 1) I better not miss Drake because of this ridiculous traffic and 2) I hope to God he performs because I know he has been battling a pretty serious knee injury.

Luckily, when finally getting to the concert 45 mins late, I had only missed half of a set, and it was Soulja Boy, so I was elated. Next up was Young Jeezy, who tried in vain to incorporate a live band into his set, which was a little forced in my opinion because most of the time all you could really hear was the beat and it looked like they weren't even really playing the instruments. His set ended on an extremely awkward exit when he gave props to the troops and American Flag with a salue with My President is Black playing in the background. The build up to the song was great and when the beat hit, everyone went nuts, but...then...Jeezy...forgot to bless us with even a bar from the song. Not even a teaser, just a salute, then he drops the mic and walks off stage with the instrumental fading out. Man Jeezy you wanna talk about giving the concert goers a case of the pelotas azules. I still respect his music, but will stick to being a fan of the Mp3s.

Much to my chagrin I learned between sets that Weezy was going on after Jeezy. Definitely got that you gotta be kidding me, I paid all this money and won't even get to see Drizzy even walk onstage??? Thank goodness I had the camera ready....cue the Drizzy ceiling entrance....

LORD HAVE MERCY! After announcing the whole Young Money lineup, the audience got their wish....only to have our emotional high crushed by Drake violently re-tearing multiple ligaments in his knee.

And then followed by Lil Wayne's comedic reaction because only he can roll with the punches without interruption THIS seamlessly....

Needless to say it was a roller coaster five minutes. Drizzy get well man, not even this new injury should keep you from 1) walking and 2) becoming the Lebron James of this rap game. We're all still anxiously awaiting your upcoming album Thank Me Later coming out later this fall.

I'll give it to Lil Wayne though, he can put on an entertaining live show. I found myself thinking at least three or four times "man I forgot about that track" as I gained more of a tangible appreciation for his depth of work. It was cool too when it took it back to his Cash Money days and brought Baby on stage with him. To close I'll leave you with Weezy's dramatic concert intro...pretty sweet, I was able to get the whole minute and a half of the build up...

There are about 10 other videos and an album full of pictures too if you go visit the fan page.
