Videos of the Week April 25th

Electro-heavy set list on the top 5 videos of the week. By far the most entertaining being the Hard Summer Trailer. Well-known EDM artists acting a fool is always a crowd pleaser, as if everyone needed to get more excited about of the better electronic festivals. If you haven't jumped on the Selfie bandwagon yet, here comes round 2 with the summer version from The Chainsmokers. It's getting a bit repetitive, bit I haven't entirely gotten sick of Duck Sauce's NRG. Can't deny it's catchy, though. Last but not least, Pharrell did his Monty hat on his new Marilyn Monroe video. Kind of a trippy video if you actually watch it...#MarilynMonroe

HudMo Takes a Shot at Bringing the NRG

A few weeks back Skrillex and friends took a big swing at Duck Sauce's new single NRG. Now it's HudMo's turn to inject some chill synths and heavy bass. The harmonious synths stand out in Hudson's version. They remind me of what you'd hear in old school video games. The bassline at the end of the track puts a solid exclamation point on the remix, bringing a bit of a Hip Hop twist to the original. One thing is for sure, Duck Sauce crafted a pretty awesome track that is able to be stretched and pulled a whole bunch of different, but great directions...#NRG

Duck Sauce and Friends Bring the Energy

Skrillex, Kill the Noise and Milo & Otis remixing a Duck Sauce track?!!? Yes, please!

The buzz created by the track below seems perfectly timed with Skrillex's new album, Recess, which is scheduled to hit iTunes on Tuesday. As you might expect, this little nugget of audio goodness is packed with a punch comparable to a 5-hour energy. The playful, children singing throughout the track drives home the fun vibe of the track. Sometimes having too many cooks in the kitchen can result in a mess, but this one didn't disappoint. I wouldn't go as far as to say that it isn't a mess, it's a beautiful mess of electo-house rhythms...#NRG

Duck Sauce Just Got Bingo'd

I'm generally critical of well-known EDM acts remixing tracks by other well-known EDM artists. I'd equate the concept to adding dark chocolate to fudge. Both are great additions to any dessert, but when you put a dessert on top of dessert, it can be distracting.

Continuing with this food analogy (Chopped is on, give me a little leeway here), the remix by Bingo Players is like adding peanut butter to the chocolate syrup of Duck Sauce's Radio Stereo track. Instead of addition by subtraction, it accomplished the rare feat of addition by addition. This remix has a whole bunch of personalities, some channeling the original, others adding a heavy, club rocking elements. It's just huge stew of awesome that needs to be enjoyed at loud volumes...#RadioStereo

Who Doesn't Enjoy Them Some Duck Sauce

Full disclosure, I'm more than a little late to hop on the Duck Sauce bandwagon. The duo consisting of Armand Van Helden and A-Trak are steadily becoming a mainstay in EDM and to this date I have yet to give him any love. So why not start with his most well known track, It's You? Video below for the visual learners...

The high pitched synths give the track an unapologetically pop sound that can be a little bubble gum-y, but the sound sticks with you. The stark contrast between the 50s Doo Wop sample from Alan Sanchez and Bruce Patch's It's You and the quirky beat make for an EDM track with a unique personality. Call it disco house or pop EDM, whatever it is, it's new and interesting...#DuckSauce
