Videos of the Week August 25th

A buffet of awesomeness is what you can expect for this week's top five. Starting strong with a space themed lyric video from one of Avicii's new hits, Friend of Mine. Normally lyric videos are reserved for daily posts and not the top five, but it's the first Avicii video in a few years, so it gets treated differently. Following close behind is Skrillex and Poo Bear's new video fro Would You Ever. Let's just say I never knew what skateboard dancing was until I watched that video.

In case you haven't given up on documentaries after watching the latest 2pac movie, we all get a chance for redemption with the new Biggie Smalls story. Much of the trailer is filled with legends like Nas and Jay Z waxing poetic about Big Poppa, but the fact that A&E put together the documentary gives me hope that it'll be better than the overly Hollywood 2pac documentary. Another video of note was Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj's comedian cameo heavy video for Swish Swish. It's an addicting track and the visuals did nothing but improve the chances you'll like the track. And last, but not least, the next Marvel hit is almost ready to come out of the oven. This time it's Thor with the the help of Hulk and Dr. Strange. Not being a comic book geek, I still nerd out over the different movies and story lines crossing over...#Ragnarok

Videos of the Week March 13th

The top five this week range from haunting to hilarious to happy. Starting with the haunting, it appears Kanye has landed on Anonymous's sh*t list. That doesn't seem like a very fun place to be in a time where cyber security is more of a myth than an actual thing these days. They have some interesting moral high ground points in pointing out the choices he's made in speaking out against people and choosing, then supporting his now wife Kim Kardashian (sidebar: she's not getting linked, she gets linked enough). We'll see if anything real comes of this, but there are unconfirmed rumors that his laptop was stolen in Paris...the plot thickens.

Picking up with the hilarious, Mikey Bolts came through with a stellar vocal performance of Uptown Funk where he channels his inner Family Guy. If you're in the mood for happy, I don't see how Kygo's Firestone could possible NOT cheer you up. I still have yet to push next when listening to that song, it's nothing short of classic. Also on the hPhe lovebird collaboration between Zedd and Selena Gomez. I'll put it this way, I wasn't unhappy watching Selena dance around in the video. Serving as nice exclamation point on the week is Kendrick Lamar's freestyle over Notorious B.I.G. beats. So cool seeing some fresh lyricism over beats that I grew up with...#ToPimpAButterfly

Videos of the Week June 22nd

Whole lot of Hip Hop this week with some of my favorite rappers on set for videos and trailers. As a casual observer, it sounds like the Detox talk is heating up in the Hip Hop community with seemingly everyone from 50 cent to @kendricklamar (below) commenting on the mythical album. Feel free to fast forward to the 3:20 mark on the @justinbieber video to hear him getting after a few classics from Pac and Biggie. Everyone hates on Biebs rapping, but dude can handle his own. I mean he's not gonna battle rap @eminem anytime soon, but for a kid from the burbs, he isn't bad.
