Sam Smith is taking the whole BMM vibe a step further with Life Support. Sure, there are a million "I can't do without you" or "you're the air I breathe" love songs, but telling someone they're your life support? That's a new, heavy way to say that you care about somebody.

There's a whole lot of falsetto and subsequent display of vocal range goin' on below. It's one of those last of a dying breed, modern slow jams. Crusade on Sam, I can't be the only damn-near 30 year old who grew up on slow jams and wishes there were more like Life Support. With about four months to go before Sam Smith's debut album drops, I'm starting to run out of adjectives and superlatives to describe his talent. Not since the smooth vocals of Michael Buble have I been so excited about a vocalist. All his needs is a little bit of faint in the background to shine, which is rare. I believe the scouting folks would say he has plus plus vocals with a major league ready harmony. Make no mistake about it, this is a lights down low, put this kids to bed type of track. Ever Heard of Sam Smith? Dude Can Straight Up Sing!

Good god almighty! That was about what came out of my mouth after I picked it off the ground shortly after hearing the pipes on your boy Sam Smith. The only other comp I can think of is when I heard Michael Buble's voice for the first time. Before you go thinking he sounds anything like Michael Buble, pump the brakes. Sam is more of a traditional vocalist that you'd hear on say an American Idol or The X Factor. I mention X Factor because he hails from the UK and I'd venture to guess that he'd do quite well if he decided to compete on the show. Yea that's that type of ballad that gets the ladies all excited. Some might even say it's borderline BMM and I'd second that notion. Even though I've strayed away from posting ballads, I will willingly make an exception for an artist who actually got his big break by being featured on Disclosure's single Latch. Further proof that talented artists always find a way to open doors for other talented artists...#NSACalledToTellMe

What Time is it?

Seems like the world of R&B got my memo about the lack of exciting new music from the genre as a whole. It's been more than a while since I've posted some baby makin' music and even though I'm a few days late on the Valentines Day delivery of @kevincossom's new one, it's never too late for Sexy Time. Visuals below for you non-listeners...
Best part of the track is the second verse when KC steps outside of his usual vocalist shoes and drops a few bars to mix it up a bit. I'll be adding his new EP to the short list of albums I'm looking forward to in 2013. Shout out to @TheLotteryPick on the beat chalked full of lust...#SexyTime

"Hank Gathers I'ma Ball 'Til My Heart Stops"

Even though @NickinMinaj may have the flamboyance and swagger to steal the show when it comes to females in Young Money, @shanell_snl was touted the Young Money Princess far before she ever came along. Seems @liltunechi, @drake and all the folks who rep YMCMB are fully aware that you probably don't know who Shanell is and see that as a problem. The track below should serve as a proper introduction because when Young Money get's together on a lead single, you better believe there will be no half steppin'.

Not only do Drizzy and Weezy contribute verses on the track, but @COOLANDDRE chipped on the production, making it a fully star studded track from front to back. What I like best about it are the samples all over the place. They including Paul Davis's I Go Crazy (background jingles) and most recently Luther Vandross's Closer I Get To You. I love the retro samples, believe it or not I Go Crazy was a top 10 hit back in 1977 and you may remember Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway doing the original version of Closer I Get to You in 1978. That some classic, classic R&B. It doesn't get more timeless than those two slow jams...(Respect the #BMM hashtag)

No word yet on when this will surface on an album or what the title will be, but you can bet it'll get more than a few spins on Top 40 radio with the heavy names on the track. Don't sleep on Shanell man, she's got sort of an angelic Keri Hilson-type powerful voice (exhibit A). The real question should be who is the second best record company in Hip Hop? #Rhetorical

I'm more than a couple months late on @migmoney's newest track Sure Thing, but it's so irresistibly seductive I'm be remiss if I didn't post it. "I Wonder Why I Never Learned My Lesson, It’s Feeling Like the Second Chance and It's the First Impression"

On first reaction, this is one of the better R&B slow jam collaborations I've heard in quite a while. There are slow jams and then there are BMM slow jams, this one falling on the latter side of the spectrum as Jamie harmonizes his way seductively out the speakers before giving way to yet another introspective, poetic verse delivered by ADG. I swear the slower the track, the more @drakkardnoir is able to shine with his slightly personal, but always coherent and eloquent descriptions of the well delivered subject matter.

This time the subject just so happens to be that type of girl that you always end up falling for. Whether that be the chick who is the life of the party and always up for an adventure, or the stylish chick who is crazy beautiful, but you always end up going home with a shopping bag of stuff that's only half yours...or even the girl with the piercing eye contact that is curvy like a cello and constantly affectionate...we all have our "types" and too often they're based mainly on looks and as a result, type becomes a word synonymous with "vice" rather than "acquired taste". But through the years we learn to never trust a big butt and a smile and those who are confident enough to keep refining their "type" are always the ones that prevail. #My2Pennies + #ADimeWorthKeeping = #PlentySense
