Way Back succeeds in it's ability to drum up the nostalgia of 1990s R&B. Honestly, it was a bit more ghetto and heavy than I expected. The bumpin' beat and at times edgy lyrics hit the mark on getting your attention. Part of me wonders if the lyrics were written prior to Prince passing away too. It'll be interesting to see how the comeback effort progresses, but their new one definitely piqued my curiosity...#WayBack

Back in the 90s they set the bar for smooth R&B with their sexy vocals. Before you go thinking the remix is going to sound anything like the original, check you expectations at the door. It's more of a sample from Diggin' on You that Kaytranada used as the foundation for a funky break beat. It's these types of beats that put him in a category of his own because there simply aren't many other DJs who can marry deep house and Hip Hop styles together on a beat. This one recently landed on his recent .001% Mixtape that dropped back in September. Although I was tempted to post all Drake videos this week since he's in all out media mode with Nothing Was the Same coming out soon, I opted for a more diverse spread. Most notably, Avicii's new one All My Life, which is more of a character drama than anything. I couldn't help but post Drake and ScarJo's charades act on Jimmy Fallon and J Cole's thoughtful Crooked Smile video.
