"We Move Together, Step 1, 2 Together"

I know what you're thinking, who the heck would create a super group named Somewhere Else? I don't have a good answer to the group name, but what I can tell you is that Somewhere Else = producer Illangelo and songwriter Billy Walsh. Who are they? Well, do you like The Weeknd? Do you like Majid Jordan? How about Alicia Keys' new single In Common? If your answer was yes to any of those questions, then you'll enjoy knowing that these two guys have had a hand in paving a path to success for all of the aforementioned artists.

For some icing on the cake, OVO Sound just happened to release their new single below, Move Together. On the track, there's a whole lot of Majid Jordan falsetto on top of a mellow electro Hip Hop beat. It's about as new school R&B as it gets with a noticeable electronic influence that I've come to associate with a lot of Majid's music. One thing's for sure, the duo have a penchant for creating great music and they're going to continue to bring in top talent to collaborate to make more great music. Oh and while you're at it, check out Billy's clothing line mr Completely...#MoveTogether

Majid Jordan & Drake's My Love Gets Chill Bass Treatment

Back in July 2015 I gushed about the original version of Majid Jordan and Drake's My Love. I loved it from the emotion it brought and how it put Drake back into R&B mode, which was a nice treat. As much as the original was all that and a bag of chips, the chill, slow bass rework they did on the track (below) is something special. The way they were able to tease in some electronics and come in strong with the bass for the hook made for a fun listen. Shoot, they even let Drizzy's verse keep the limelight toward the end when they chopped up the beat for emphasis. I sincerely wish more artists would take notes on what Majid and a lot of EDM acts are doing when they give a successfully song of theirs a new personality. Join me in collectively zoning out to the calming vocals and soothing bass...#MyLoveRemix

"All Summer Sixteen, Playing Dirty Not Clean"

Now that we know Drake's new Views From the 6 will be arriving in April (probably on April 16th since Toronto's area code is 416), it's time to sit back and relax as new music trickles in over the course of the next two months. Following the mo' money, mo' fame, mo' problems, mo' haters rapper career trajectory, it seems like with every passing year Drizzy picks up a new rival. We've seen him and Chris Brown get involved physically and verbally, then there's the ongoing Meek Mill saga (yawn) and lately it's been fellow up and comers from Toronto (Tory Lanez) taking subliminal shots at Drake. Rapping over a beat concocted by Toronto's finest (40, Boi-1da and CuBeatz), Drake takes on all incumbents with subtle jabs. I'm not going to pretend to do a better job than Lyrics Genius at illuminating the beef and subsequent jabs, so if you want to dive deep, head on over to that fine site.

Do I think it's lame that Meek Mill dropped a response (War Pain) to Drake's Summer Sixteen a mere 15 minutes after the song was debuted on OVO Sound radio? Yea, I do. And while Meek may be grinning like a little school girl by proudly flipping Drake's "ghostwriter", Quentin Miller, he's still coming off like a younger brother snitching on big brother because he's jealous of the attention that big brother gets. I digress, it's all pretty stupid anyways. Getting back to the music, the slow beat reminds me a lot of Three Six Mafia's Da Summa from 2009. It's slow, heavy and bangin', setting the tone for tough talk. It's not your usual Top 40 single from Drake, but it will succeed in getting everyone to start talking. And you know what they say, no publicity is bad publicity, especially when you're about to release an album...#SummerSixteen

"It's the Thought of You That's Drivin' Me...."

Majid Jordan is without a doubt my favorite OVO Sound artist. The duo has a knack for crafting funky R&B marked by their smooth, falsetto flow. Their newest single is one of my favorites of theirs, reminding me a lot of their previous single Forever. Both have a rolling bass line that forces you to nod you head along to the beat. There's much more of an emphasis on the vocals on Something About You, so if you're looking for something to sing along with, you're more likely to like this one. For reference, their new self-titled 12 song debut full length album is due out in early February. Feel free and cop the pre-order if you're a fan of their first two singles off the album...#MajidJordan
