"All She Hit Me With is Come and See Me For Once"

A new slow jam from PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake, eh? Evidently the whole OVO crew did a number on the Converse Fader Fort showcase this past week. Consider the momentum continued with Come and See Me. The production has 40's fingerprints all over it, reminding me a lot of my favorite Drake tracks. There's plenty of heartfelt, mellow vibes in the mix, making it a perfect late night track to cool out to. Imagine for a second...a lonely night coming home from the bar empty handed and listening to this before you make the fateful decision of pouring one last Johnny Walker neat to put you over the top. It's that type of pondering life and relationships that a song like this will bring to the forefront. It's tracks like this that I will always be able to vibe with because it reminds me of struggles in the past. The happiness wouldn't exist without something to compare it to, so don't feel bad when you're singing along because I sure didn't...#ComeAndSeeMe

"We Already Got Spring 2015 Poppin''

In case you thought the end of the Raptors season was going to lead to silence from Drake, here comes a subtle hint toward a new album dropping in the next year. What initially had me really excited about 0-100/The Catch Up was the production backing on the track. Both Boi-1da and 40 got in on the track with Nineteen85 and managed to collectively produce a track that succeeds in it's simplicity. Lyrically it stays true to the two personality tracks like Tuscan Leather with braggadocio followed by well thought out, introspective bars. Its these types of tracks that continue to set Drake apart creatively because he's still one of very few who can run with just about any Hip Hop crowd imaginable from thuggish rap to radio friendly Hip Hop. Spring 2015 seems far off, but the fact that we now have a chapter 1 of the next book will make the next 365 all the more exciting...#0to100

Videos of the Week April 5th

Good mix of musical entertainment, viral videos and just plain entertainment from comedians losing at paintball. After reading Pigeons and Planes' well-written article detailing our fake friendship with Drake, it's only fitting that he be the subject of this week's rendition of videos. Drake let loose his new video for 5 AM in Toronto, played a cameo role in Snoop Lion's No Guns Allowed video and managed to whoop up on Kevin Hart's crew in paintball all in one week. The week as a whole supports the whole article's premise about how we know so much about Drake's life that we can both love his music and then turn around and make fun of him like we've known him for years. For example, his 5 AM in Toronto video is pretty boring as a whole, but he dropped a flawless verse on No Guns Allowed and backed up his sh*t talking to Kevin Hart by waxing him "I think we beat Kevin as many times as they played that John Legend song on Think Like a Man (Tonight feat Ludacris)." Cold!

Thanks to Drake, transparency is now cool again and for that I will forever be grateful to him for bringing it back. Even though we're his fake friend, he's better off with us and we're better off with him, so as superficial as it might be, it's a symbiotic relationship that benefits all parties involved. As a quick aside, make sure and check out that dueling saxophone video in the subway. The world needs more spontaneous music like that...#Saxophone
