Martin Garrix Drops Tomorrowland Closing ID Pizza

Those of you who were at Tomorrowland about a month ago are probably geeking out right now. Those that were in attendance got a treat when Martin Garrix dropped a new, melodic, progressive house anthem to close out his set. Check out a clip of Pizza being debuted live...


As the story goes, the ID was somehow given the nickname Pizza shortly after it dropped and that name was so appropriate that it stuck for the official single release. Don't expect a pizza party when you watch the video for the track below, though. It's more of a wild and crazy, live life to your fullest tour highlight themed video, but Martin is in fact eating pizza at the end of the video. Whether or not it's intentional, I can weave a story around the track being so universally likeable that pizza is a good comparison. The bright chords and orchestral highlights on the track make for an emotionally charged, hit you in the feels type of combo. It's one of my favorite tracks that Martin has put out, which is saying a lot considering his laundry list of singles...#Pizza

Videos of the Week September 18th

If you're a fan of late night comedy and festival after movies, then this week is right up your alley. Between Tomorrowland and the Spring Awakening, this may as well be an advertisement for electronic music. One was in Belgium and one was in Chicago, but they both ratcheted up the energy in their own crazy ways. Being from the Midwest, Spring Awakening is without a doubt in the top five on my festival bucket list.

In other news, Ariana Grande might have a career in acting the way she can impersonate other pop divas on Fallon. On the other side of the late night able now sits Stephen Colbert who found a way to roast celebrity lifestyle brands by creating one of his own. Really pumped he's back on television and you can bet there will be plenty more snippets of his shows in the future. Rounding out the top five is Disclosure's new video for their latest single Jaded. It was cool to hear Howard Lawrence's vocal debut on the track over their typically awesome production. Caracal is a week away, color me excited as hell to listen to their album from front to back...#Caracal

Videos of the Week August 28th

The week featured a 60/40 split between new music videos and EDM promos. Leading the way on the music front was The Weeknd's new video for Tell Your Friends that features production from the Louis Vuitton Don himself. There's something to his mix of pillow talk and vulgarity that comes off as unique because he's such a talented vocalist. In other new music, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are back to making their own brand of interesting music. Downtown is part Uptown Funk, part quirky Hip Hop and an overall fun track. If you were hoping for a theatrical video that will leave a lasting impression, they sure did pull it off. Rounding out the new music of the week was Lil Wayne's collaboration with Charlie Puth. His name has been out there a lot lately, but if you haven't heard Charlie's track with Wiz Khalifa commemorating Paul Walker's life, you need to give it a listen to gain an appreciation for his vocal ability.

If you're as enamored with festival recap videos, then you can join me in wishing you made it to Boom, Belgium for Tommorrowland. The way they chronicled the journey through the stories of two women who attended the festival was cool. And last, but not least, if you're curious who the big money makers in electronic music were, Forbes has you covered. A couple things I learned from the piece: 1) I definitely would not have guessed that Tiesto makes twice as much as deadmau5. 2) Who knew Steve Aoki was such an awesome entrepreneur? and 3) Calvin Harris made nearly twice as much as Tiesto.
