Wu-Tang stand up! People Say is a blast from the past with Redman teaming up with the W's finest. Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck and Masta Killa all chipped in hot 16's to power the new single produced by Mathematics. It plays more like a cypher than a polished single, but with this cast of characters, that's all good with me.

Despite not being on the track, the release coincides with RZA's recent announcement of an upcoming Wu-Tang album, Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues. The album consists of new beats from Mathematics with previously recorded verses from Wu members. The album is slated to drop on October 13th and if there's more newness like the one below then I'll be having it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner...#PeopleSay

The Value of A Dollar is Up In Hip Hop

I'll be the first to admit, I'm probably the last one deciding to jump on the Curren$y bandwagon. He's been releasing lots of music, mainly on mixtapes, but this year he's gotten a whole lot more critical acclaim by dropping two studio albums. Believe it or not he signed with Master P to No Limit records in 2005 and then was part of Young Money until 2007 (before it became the Young Money is it now) before landing on BluRoc  Records this year, which falls under Dame Dash's DD172 record label division, distributed by Def Jam. 

I'll be honest, between sets at the @REALWIZKHALIFA show I was at last week (review to follow), I heard a couple really hot tracks and made a point to check them out after the concert. Lo and behold, both belonged to ya boy @currensy_spitta, who rips apart verses on both tracks below. The first being over Toto's Africa beat, which has become one of the most heavily sampled beats this year. Moving on to his new album, which came out yesterday, titled Pilot Talk II. The lead single from the album is Michael Knight, which was released as a single on Oct 12 and a track that the Chef jumped on for a remix (below). The track takes on the Knight Rider persona, you'll recognize the video below..

Pretty bangin' track where his grimy lyrical style festers over an instrumental that sounds like something Wu Tang would have thrown together back in the day. Fitting that @raekwon jumped on the remix and gave it even more of a Shaolin feel. Press play and go out and support the spitta in the stores...

Sample Justice: Rick Ross - Audio Meth vs Mobb Deep - Shook Ones (Part II)

You had better come strong with little to no half steppin' when attempting to sample a revered Hip Hop classic like @HAVOCMOBBDEEP and @prodigymobbdeep's Shook Ones Part II. It's kinda sad most people now associate the original beat of this track to the video below:

...but I digress, Em did kill that freestyle and that scene still gives me chills when I watch it. The way Em tears down his own character, battle-rap style, leaving the Away Team crowd in complete favor of him before he drops the mic like it's white hot (pardon the pun).

Pre-8 Mile, I had every single bar of Mobb Deep's original version memorized...I'm talkin' Biggie - Juicy kinda memorization. I agree with Diddy, you can't call yourself a fan of Hip Hop if every single word doesn't fly out of your mouth when that classic comes on.

While I tend to favor Prodigy's verses over Havoc's on most tracks, it's like splitting hairs on this one with both being on point like @oneandonlycp3. Matter of fact, please do yourself a favor if you're not familiar with the original by pressing play below.

I'm betting if you're not active among the blogs you probably missed the bonus track off @rickross305's new album Teflon Don titled Audio Meth. Couple things I really like about this track, for one, @THERUNNERS did a great job at taking the most notable part of the beat and running with it (dammit I need to stop the puns). It wasn't too over the top and they meshed it well with Ricky Rosay's style in my humble opinion. Another great addition to the track was NY's own Chef Raekwon, who gave it the NY flavor that the original track had with both Havoc and Prodigy being from Queensbridge. @raekwon has been bringin' it of late and killed double R on his own track...#Truth

Overall a solid use of the sample, I've got no beef with the way The Runners sampled it. If you haven't heard it make a point to check it out because other than B.M.F., this was the highlight of his new album...
